Raak gefascineerd door het Karen Blixen-museum dat is geïnspireerd op het levensverhaal van Karen, dat een van de pioniers koffieboeren in Nairobi was. Ze inspireerde ook het maken van de beroemde film 'Out of Africa'. Het Giraffe Centre is een bewaarbestemming beroemd gemaakt door Daisy Rothschild, een bevrijd giraffekalf aan de westelijke grens van Kenia. Doorkruis het halfwilde centrum en leer over de levenscyclus en paringsgewoonten van deze torenhoge dieren, en kijk hoe ze worden gevoerd. Je leert ook over beschermingsinspanningen rond de giraffen. Wandel door het prachtige natuurpad dat langs de rivier de Gogo slingert en maak ook een kans om giraffen in het wild te spotten.

De Karen Blixen is een huis gebouwd in 1912 en was de thuisbasis van de iconische auteur van 'Out of Africa'-Karen Blixen. Het werd in 1986 voor het publiek geopend als een museum waar bezoekers rondleidingen krijgen over de kenmerken van het huis, kamers die zijn ontworpen in het oorspronkelijke decor en met rekwisieten uit de film uit 1985. Zie de tekeningen en schilderijen van Karen Blixen, een filmvertoningsruimte, een documentaire-expositie over haar leven en werk.
Het Giraffe Center is de thuisbasis van bedreigde Rothschild-giraffen, alleen te vinden in de semi-ariede regio's van Afrika waar bomen en struiken overvloedig zijn. Dit is een zeer unieke plek om te zien en te leren over de hoogste diersoort; De giraf.

Excellent tour hosted by Paul. We were well looked after throughout, and also took us to additional spots outside of the itinerary including the Kazuri bead factory and some additional Karen Blizen frequented spots. Genuine, interesting and approachable tour guide who is more than just a driver for us. Whilst it is a half day tour and timings might be tightbfor bigger groups to see both sites comfortably, he does ensure you get the most out of both sites. If you book the later slot (12.30pm) be prepared your return to your hotel will mean getting stuck in the famous Nairobi rush hour traffic! Highly recommend and if we return, we will use again.

Loved our guide, James. Very informative and set us up with great tours and experiences at the Giraffe Center and the Karen Blixen Museum. Also, made a side trip to the Bead factory. Paul, the guide, was very friendly and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly. The museum is rather for people interested in Karen Blixen, whereas the Giraffe Center offers a nice form of infotainment: feeding giraffes and learning about them.

We had a fantastic day tour with the tour guide, Paul. He was very thorough in introducing the Giraffe centre and the Karen Blixen museum. Also took us to various shops for souvenir. We highly recommend this half tour.

I truly enjoyed the tour, the giraffe centre was a great experience and the museum of Karen Blixen brought me back in time. Roselyne was very responsive in the reservation process and very accommodating in adding several stops to our tour to meet our specific requests.
