We were there today for the second time, this time with five people in the restaurant – and unfortunately very disappointed. Even when taking our seats, we noticed the heavily soiled menus. All had visible grease stains on the cover, lots of fingerprints, presumably from the guests before us. A cleaning cloth would work wonders here. Regarding the order We ordered: – 2× schnitzel with fries/salad – 1× cheese spaetzle without fried onions with salad – 2× cheese dumplings The menu describes the cheese dumplings as "topped with Parmesan strips and balsamic cream" – however, they were served with plain grated cheese, presumably Emmental. Procedure: First, the two schnitzels arrived. We waited so that everyone could eat together. Then only one portion of cheese dumplings arrived, even though two were ordered. Afterward, a male waiter brought two cheese spaetzle, – one with fried onions – one without fried onions → both without the accompanying salad. He even asked if we had already received the salad. When we denied it, he did not bring it immediately, but only after we asked again – at a time when the cheese spaetzle were almost finished. Only after we clarified that the order was taken incorrectly did the second portion of cheese dumplings finally arrive after about another ten minutes of waiting. By then, we had already finished eating the schnitzels and the first portion of cheese dumplings. The first server reacted very unfriendly and claimed that we had ordered two cheese spaetzle. However, the five of us clearly heard something different when we placed the order than the server did. And a look at other reviews shows that misunderstood orders are apparently not an isolated case there. Foreign objects in the food: In the side salad of the cheese spaetzle, we found a sharp plastic piece (about 1 cm). Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable, a no-go, and can become dangerous if not noticed in time and swallowed down. A bit more attention in the kitchen would be urgently advised here. We reported it immediately; as compensation, we were offered an espresso, ice cream, or a small treat. However, a genuine apology would have been appropriate after all the mistakes. Rude farewell: As we were leaving, two waitresses stood right next to the door. I said loudly and clearly, "Goodbye" – there was no response. One inevitably thinks: Then it's goodbye forever – there will not be a third chance. Conclusion: – Unfriendly service – Incorrect food delivery, and they are unable to serve five people with three different dishes at least somewhat simultaneously. – Salad served only after a repeated request and far too late – Discrepancy between the menu and the actual dish – Sharp plastic in the food – an absolute no-go – No professional handling of complaints – Rude farewell – Menus urgently need to be cleaned
I wrote my favorite word on colored paper, framed it, and took it home. The cherry blossoms were blooming in the garden and it was very beautiful. Next time I visit Matsumoto, I'd like to try writing a different word.
Thank you for sharing your lovely experience! I’m so glad you enjoyed writing your favorite word and taking in the beautiful cherry blossoms. If you visit Matsumoto again, I’d be delighted to help you try writing another word. Looking forward to seeing you next time!
