Wow! What an incredible musical filled with laughters and tears. This is an inspirational performance from all the performers, touching upon a topic of love, acceptance, individuality, and most of all freedom of choice. The strong message of never be afraid to show your true self resonates within all of us. This is a powerful musical that I would highly recommend to everyone to see! This performance should get a Tony award!
The premise was good. The music was good. The competition between Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway to write the play to fit the music seemed a little contrived. Mamma Mia was a jukebox musical that was much better.
An Enjoyable Jukebox Musical! If you are a fan of '90's music, this is the show for you. I now know that a jukebox musical is one with songs from popular culture, not a musical with songs written specifically for it. Joey Fatone of '90's boy band *NSYNC stole every scene he was in. He was definitely my reason for seeing the show. Other family members had no background in the boy bands, Britney Spears, Katy Perry music, etc., so they found themselves looking at their wristwatches a bit and being a bit underwhelmed by the singing and dancing. The ticket prices were reasonable. Good staff, long bathroom lines, but a good experience overall at the theater getting in and out in a reasonable amount of time. The show was not quite sold out, but the crowd was enthusiastic. and I enjoyed it. I am very glad we went here.
Spectacular acting, best play I've ever seen.
I really wanted to like this show. My husband bought us tickets for Christmas and we went with friends. We love going to broadway shows but the message of this show was terrible. It went against all of my beliefs. It celebrated gender confusion and identity issues. It celebrated children disrespecting their parents. It celebrated not needing anyone else and living life your own way. We saw people leave this show at intermission and I wish we had too because the second half didn’t get better. We actually spent intermission discussing how twisted and terrible the storyline was. The actors were talented but the storyline and language were awful. If you love God, you can’t love this show. Do not waste your money! There are so many great Broadway shows out there but this is not one of them.
This was our second time seeing & Juliet. An unbelievably talented cast. Great score. Fantastic storyline. If you loves musicals, & Juliet is a must.
Super fun jukebox musical any 2000's loving 30-something teenage will love! Loose storyline strings together Max Martin written chart toppers from Britney, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys and more Singing along & dancing in your seat are encouraged :)
I had an afternoon to fill by myself. I got a rush ticket day of at the box office for cheap!! My seat was great! Right orchestra 10th row. The production was entertaining and good. Great plot twist, fun songs and good costumes/set. I enjoyed it. My complaint is that the theatre was so cold that everyone sat with their coats on the entire time. There were a lot of mom's with tween/teen daughters. This storyline will not be for everyone and some mom's seemed to be caught off guard.
& Juliet is a high-energy, hit-packed Broadway musical that reimagines what might happen if Juliet’s story didn’t end with Romeo. The result is a bold, female-forward retelling that’s playful, empowering, and unapologetically fun. The show is built around the music of Max Martin—one of the most prolific hitmakers of the past few decades—with songs originally made famous by artists like Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and countless others. These pop anthems are woven into a lively jukebox musical that fills the stage with color, movement, and infectious energy. Full disclosure: I’m not typically a big fan of jukebox musicals. I often find that the story can feel thin, or that song transitions are a little jarring since the music wasn’t written for the narrative moments they’re dropped into. & Juliet does have a few of those moments—but importantly, it knows it does. The show leans into the wink-and-nod of it all, embracing the camp and kitsch in a way that makes it charming rather than distracting. That self-awareness is a big part of what makes this show work. The current Broadway cast is terrific. James Monroe Iglehart is a standout—larger-than-life, endlessly charismatic, and clearly having a blast on stage. If you’ve seen him in Freestyle Love Supreme or during his Tony-winning run as the Genie in Aladdin, you know exactly the kind of joyful energy he brings. This show also has a very clear and intentional audience. I saw it with a group in their late 30s and early 40s, and the music hit squarely in the nostalgia sweet spot—songs we grew up with and still know every word to. At the same time, there were younger audience members who found the music current, accessible, and way more engaging than traditional Broadway scores. It’s rare to see a show bridge that generational gap so easily. If you’re new to Broadway, traveling to New York, or a little unsure whether theater is “your thing,” & Juliet is an excellent entry point. The production is big, flashy, and polished. The lighting is gorgeous, the set pieces are constantly in motion, and the show often feels more like a pop concert than a traditional musical—in the best way possible. Bottom line: & Juliet is a fun, approachable, modern Broadway experience that turns a familiar story on its head and invites everyone along for the ride. Whether you’re a seasoned theatergoer or seeing your first Broadway show, it’s an entertaining and high-energy way to spend an evening in New York.
Saw this play in Kansas City. Cringe worthy during, next day frustrated we wasted an evening. Accepting of LGBTQ but this felt forced and lacking plot.
