Joodse wandeltocht door Boedapest
Beschrijving
Verken met mij het culturele centrum van Boedapest! Als je geïnteresseerd bent in geschiedenis, street food, uitgaan of street art in Boedapest, kun je het allemaal op één plek vinden, in de Joodse wijk. Tijdens onze tour ontdekken we de diepten en rijkdommen van het Joodse erfgoed in de stad. Waanend in de Joodse geschiedenis, zal ik je de verborgen Joodse schatten van de buurt laten zien met 3 synagogen. We zullen de muurschilderingen bekijken, die de Joodse wijk tot een ware openluchtgalerij maken; de koosjere restaurants, en last but not least nodig ik je uit in de meest authentieke lokale ruïne-pubs en culturele centra die de beste ontmoetingspunten zijn voor de lokale bevolking en feestgangers. Houd er rekening mee dat de synagogen die we tijdens de tour bezoeken functionerende religieuze plaatsen zijn. Op vrijdagmiddag, hele zaterdag en op joodse feestdagen zijn ze gesloten.

De eerste synagoge die we zullen zien is in Rumbach Street, het gebouw is afgesloten van een binnenbezoek, maar het is prachtig met een interessante geschiedenis.
De tweede synagoge is geen andere, maar de grootste Europese in Dohány Street. We zullen het hele complex bezoeken, inclusief het Hongaars Joods Museum en de Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Garden met het Tree of Life Monument.
Nadat we het complex hebben verlaten, gaan we de Boheemse kant van de Joodse wijk verkennen met het binnenlandse bezoek van een beroemde, zogenaamde ruïnebar, de Szimpla-tuin.
De laatste synagoge van onze driehoek is de Kazinczy Street-orthodoxe synagoge, een heel speciale art nouveau-schat, we gaan ook het gebouw binnen.
Het laatste deel dat we zullen zien is het chique Gozsdu-hof met prachtige restaurants en feestplekken.

Emi was a wonderful tour guide. And this part of the city is so different from the opera house area even though they’re close by each other. It was very powerful to go into the synagogue and hear the history of the Hungarian Jews.

With Petra, you have a young person speaking her mind, and that’s what makes a great guide in a dynamic and evolving city. I can strap on a headset if all I want are facts and figures about this building or that date. But we like to go deeper into the history and current events which made for great insight from someone as open and honest as Petra. Sure, she knew all the facts and dates too, but the opinions on communism, international relationships and the current Hungarian government really added spice to the time together.
