Het feit dat er al eeuwenlang een Joodse aanwezigheid in Griekenland is, ontgaat de meeste mensen en zelfs sommige Grieken! Mijn tour duurt ongeveer 4 uur en duikt in de rijke geschiedenis van de Atheense Joodse gemeenschap. We bezoeken de iconische Beth Shalom-synagoge, een prachtig gebouw en nog veel, veel meer. Vervolgens zullen we de Etz Haim-synagoge verkennen, een symbool van veerkracht en de blijvende geest van de Grieks-Romaniote-joodse gemeenschap. Daarna is het een korte wandeling naar het Holocaustmonument voor Griekse Joden. In een iets lichter tempo bezoeken we de vlooienmarkt en leren we over de oorsprong ervan terwijl we op zoek gaan naar verborgen juweeltjes. We vervolgen onze reis en lopen langs de oude Griekse Agora, waarvan wordt aangenomen dat deze de oudste synagoge van Griekenland is. Voor het einde zullen we natuurlijk het Joods Museum van Athene zien. Als afsluiting van onze tour zullen we een heerlijk verzorgde maaltijd eten in een koosjer restaurant.

Bezoek een van de mooiste musea in Athene om het Joods-Griekse verleden tot leven te zien komen.
In een iets lichter tempo bezoeken we de vlooienmarkt en leren we over de oorsprong ervan terwijl we op zoek gaan naar verborgen juweeltjes.
Loop door het historische plein van Athene om een monument te zien dat een periode uit elke Griekse geschiedenis vertegenwoordigt en leer meer over het Joodse verleden ervan.
Bezoek de twee synagogen van Athene, Beth Salo en Ets Hagim.
Loop naar het Holocaustmonument voor Griekse Joden dat bij de oude Griekse begraafplaats van Kerameikos staat.
Als afsluiting van onze tour zullen we een heerlijk verzorgde maaltijd eten in een koosjer restaurant.

Our Jewish tour of Athens was outstanding, thanks to Angela. Her knowledge of Jewish history and culture brought every site to life, and she made the experience both informative and enjoyable. What impressed me most was how accommodating she was regarding my multiple sclerosis. Very interesting tour of Jewish life in Athens. Great to hear that Jews here feel very safe today. As elsewhere in Europe, horrifying to see and hear what the Nazi’s did to the Jewish Community and others, but grateful to the many Greeks who helped the Jews escape and took them in

Angela was both enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable about Greek Jewish culture and history , she spent extra time with us and was relaxed and refreshing to spend a half day walking Athens.
