JODHPUR IS BEROEMD OM ZIJN MONUMENTEN EN RIJKE GESCHIEDENIS. DE STAD WERD IN 1459 DOOR RAO JODHA GESTOND. De op een na grootste stad van Rajasthan staat in de volksmond bekend als de Blauwe Stad. De naam is duidelijk passend, aangezien de meeste architectuurtempels, haveli's en zelfs huizen in levendige blauwtinten zijn gebouwd. De levendige Sardar-markt ligt dicht bij de toren, en smalle steegjes leiden van hieruit naar een bazaar waar groenten, kruiden, Indiase zoetigheden, textiel, zilver en handwerk worden verkocht. Het is een geweldige plek om op uw gemak rond te dwalen.

Deze ingewikkeld vervaardigde cenotaaf (leeg herdenkingsgraf) werd gebouwd in 1899, ter ere van Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Het beschikt over witte marmeren roosters en grillige koepels, terwijl de binnenkant is versierd met portretten van Rathore-linialen. Het is een rustige plek om te ontspannen en te genieten van een prachtig uitzicht op het fort en de stad.
Mehrangarh Fort is een van de beroemdste forten van Rajasthan. Het is eigendom van de afstammelingen van de vroegere royals die een voorbeeld hebben gesteld in het effectief beheren van de erfgoedstructuur. Het werd gebouwd door Rao Jodha, een Rathore Rajput in 1459, na zijn verhuizing vanuit Mandore (8 km ten noorden van Jodhpur). Dit machtige fort, dat zich uitstrekt over een eenzame heuvel, omsluit elegante paleizen en intimiderende kantelen
De beroemde bezienswaardigheid van de oude stad, de klokkentoren, vormt de kern ervan - en het werkt nog steeds! Daarnaast heeft Sadar Market een traditioneel dorpse bazaar-gevoel. Het is chaotisch en kleurrijk en verkoopt bijna alles, inclusief handwerk, specerijen, sari's en stof.

The guided tour by them was nicely done. We had asked for customised plan with photography + history + food of the city. The guide Tarun explained us everything and took us to some less crowded places. We also added Fort in our itinerary and Tarun guided us there as well. They even recommend you places which only locals know. Will recommend them if you want to have a true taste of the city.

To start with, the company is very professional in the way they explain the different packages and options available to the clients and make all the information known beforehand. I was also very impressed with how they answered some of our queries and concerns late in the night once as we had to decide what package to opt for the next morning. When we decided to do the half day city tour they offered us a flexible payment plan of paying 50% beforehand and 50% after the tour was completed. While the tour may be on the pricier side, we could not be more impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of the tour guide Mr Rishiraj. Not only was he able to answer all niche questions about the sites we visited (Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and Umaid Bhawan Palace) but he even provided some useful personal anecdotes and displayed a good overall understanding of the history of not only Jodhpur but Rajhastan in general. The sites were all very beautiful and we even got some lovely photographs which Mr Rishiraj helped us snap. Finally, we were also impressed with the professionalism of the driver Mr Narendra who drove us around the city very safely and arranged pick-and-drop points as close to the monuments as possible. Would recommend this company to anyone who visits Jodhpur who can afford it as they give good value for money.

This tour was fantastic, despite most of the sites being closed due to COVID, our guide Rishi went the extra mile to take as around the outside of all the key monuments and sites. He was thorough and knowledgeable I loved hearing about the history of the great city of Jodhpur. Despite only being a half day tour Rishi showed us round for nearly a full day which sad awesome, amazing value for money and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the city. Thank you Rishi!!
