Het Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival vindt zijn oorsprong in de drijvende lantaarns die werden gebruikt tijdens de strijd om het Jinjuseong-fort tijdens de Imjin-oorlog (1592-1598) als een militaire strategie om te voorkomen dat Japanse troepen door de Namgang-rivier zouden waden. De hoogtepunten van het festival zijn het drijven van lantaarns langs de Namgang-rivier en de parade van lantaarns die door lokale studenten zelf zijn gemaakt. Daarnaast heeft het festival verschillende evenementen en programma's, waaronder een vuurwerkshow, waterlichtshow, culturele optredens en meer.

Do not miss this tour if you‘re coming to Busan around the Jinju lantern festival! We‘ve had an amazing experience with Suyang. He was very kind and planned the tour until midnight, so that we had enough time to explore each area of the festival grounds. Don‘t miss these breathtaking views and especially this tour with Suyang. Thank you for sharing your knowlege and time with us and for the cute lantern and provided snacks! :)

Highly recommended Suyang samchon tour! Suyang reached out to us before the tour to check if we wanted to stay until midnight for the tour! He came with lanterns and flashlight to help us take beautiful photos at night! Suyang speaks English and Mandarin well! Will definitely rebook with him when we visit Busan again!

It was a fabulous tour and I would highly recommend it! Suyang is a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide, who kept me informed of the tour plans and the tour ran as per itinerary. This was the first night of the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival 2024 and were lucky to watch the drone show and fireworks, which is only scheduled on specific nights. Due to the large scale of the festival, we kept together as a group. My tips are to wear comfy walking shoes, as we did not stop for long periods and the walking paths are not always flat. There is so much to see on both sides of the river. Carry water and small snacks as there are few vendors on the castle / fortress side. Plenty of vendors on the other side of the river.

A total of three guests participated in the tour, and with the cooperation of guests , the tour ended smoothly on schedule. The three guests returned to Busan at 10 p.m. due to their personal schedule, and I would like to recommend next guests to return to Busan at 12 p.m. to see all the lanterns smoothly.
