Ga richting Jerash; een van de belangrijkste Romeinse vindplaatsen van Jordanië. Het hoogtepunt van het gebied was tijdens de Romeinse overheersing (in 63 voor Christus) en het is al meer dan 6500 jaar bewoond. Bewonder tempels, theaters, pleinen met zuilengalerijen en een amfitheater en ontdek nederzettingen die dateren uit de brons- en ijzertijd. Ga verder naar Umm Qais, voorheen bekend als Gadara; vooral bekend om het beroemde wonder van de Gadarene-zwijnen. Het was ook een thuis en een cultureel centrum voor veel dichters en filosofen. Ontdek deze oude stad, de zuilengalerijen, terrassen en ruïnes.

Verken enkele van de historische schatten van Jordanië tijdens deze privétour van een hele dag naar Jerash, Ajloun en Umm Qais vanuit Amman. Ga richting Jerash en duik in de rijke geschiedenis terwijl je de zuilengalerijen, tempels op de heuvels, het amfitheater, openbare pleinen, pleinen en tempels verkent. Jerash is een van de best bewaarde klassieke sites; een rijke en welvarende Griekse en Romeinse stad. Het werd rond 331 voor Christus gesticht door Alexander de Grote en werd later een van de grote Dekapolis-steden in het oosten. Ga verder naar Ajloun en bezoek het kasteel van Ajloun; een fort uit de 12e eeuw gebouwd door de strijdkrachten van Saladin tegen de kruisvaarders. Het werd gebouwd om de 3 belangrijkste doorgangen naar het noordwesten van Jordanië te domineren. Dit gebouw op een heuveltop is een treffend voorbeeld van middeleeuwse Arabisch-islamitische militaire architectuur. De structuren, torens, kamers, galerijen en trappen die deel uitmaken van de stad, evenals het prachtige landschap dat de nabijgelegen heuvels omringt, zullen u zeker boeien. Klim in de toren en kijk rond om de historische sfeer in je op te nemen en verdiep je in het schilderachtige uitzicht op de Jordaanvallei tot aan de Dode Zee.
Rijd later richting Umm Qais; een van de mooiste Grieks-Romeinse steden. Kom meer te weten over de ruïnes van de stad Gadara in Decapolis, nu bekend als Umm Qais. Deze plek is adembenemend vanwege het contrast en de nevenschikking van de Romeinse ruïnes met het verlaten dorp uit het Ottomaanse tijdperk. Geniet van het adembenemende uitzicht vanaf een buitengewoon uitkijkpunt, met uitzicht op 3 landen; Jordanië, Syrië en de Israëlische en Palestijnse Gebieden. Volgens de Bijbel is het de plaats van het beroemde wonder van het Gadarene varken; toen Jezus de demonen uit 2 mannen wierp in een kudde varkens. Kom ten slotte opnieuw samen met uw chauffeur en keer terug naar Amman, waar uw tour eindigt met een drop-off op een centrale locatie naar keuze.

In may 2026, we participated in the "Jerash, Aljoun, Umm Qais" tour arranged by the tour operator, R&H VIP Transportation Services. Our driver selected to take us on the tour was Mr. Shadi Almanasir. Shadi made our tour a wonderfully, memorable experience. Each of the stopovers were very interesting. At Umm Qais we hired a guide at the site. We viewed the two other sites, the Castle of Adjoin and Jerash, on our own. We had seen Ephesus in Turkey which we greatly enjoyed but I thought Jerash was much larger, better-preserved, and very impressive to see. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Jordan. Regarding the tour operator, we had enquired whether they’d permit our driver to drop us off at a different location from our pickup. They happily agreed and thus, we were picked up in Amman but was dropped off in Petra. Thereafter, I requested the company’s driving services for 2 more days. We were lucky to have Shadi as our driver during those days. The first day, Shadi drove us from Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea with stoppages at Kerak Castle and the Pink Lake. The following day, Shadi drove us from the Dead Sea to Amman, with stoppages at Mount Nebo and St. George's Church in Madaba that houses the Madaba Map. We also stopped at the Cave of the Seven Sleepers that was along our route to Amman. In Amman, Shadi drove us to see the Citadel and the Roman Amphitheater before dropping is off at our hotel. Shadi is extremely professional and was very timely in working out the logistics of our various trips. He is a friendly and enjoyable driver who is very knowledgeable, providing us in-depth information about the various stoppages and sights throughout our trip. This tour, the tour operator, and our driver are all highly recommended by me and my family.

Very well planned and wholesome day trip with a fun, friendly and fashionable guide driver. The 3 places were amazing with really good guides (separately available at entrance) to enhance the experience. The whole ride was very safe and smooth with no security concerns. We chose this tour, "Jerash, Aljoun, Umm Qais Day Trip," with the tour operator, R&H VIP Transportation Services, via Viator. The driver selected to take us on the tour was Mr. Shadi Almanasir. Shadi made our tour a wonderful and memorable experience. Each of the stopovers were very interesting. We hired a seperate guide at Umm Qais, and the other two locations, Castle of Aljoun and Jerash, we viewed on our own. A very full and enjoyable day. We had, before our trip to Jordan, contacted the R&H VIP Transportation to enquire whether they can drop us off in Petra instead of our pickup city of Amman. The company agreed, so with a little extra payment for the extra trip, we were dropped off in Petra. Thereafter, I had arranged with the company to give us the same driver two days later to take us from Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea with stoppages at Kerak Castle, the Pink Lake, and the shrines of Zaid ibn Haritha and Jafar ibn Abi Talib. We had sufficient time to see each stops very well and was still able arrive at our the Hilton Dead Sea resort before 5pm. The following day, we again requested Shadi take us from the Dead Sea resort to Amman, with stoppages at Mount Nebo, Madaba's Greek Orthodox Basilica of St George with the mosaic map of Holy Land, and the Cave of the 7 Sleepers. At Amman, we had time before our drop-off at our Amman hotel so he took us to the Citadel and Roman Amphitheater. All the transportation services were perfectly and comfortably executed. The company, and specifically Shadi Almanasir made all our tour experiences wonderful. Shadi is a friendly and enjoyable companion who is very knowledgeable, providing us in depth information about the various stoppages and sights throughout our trip. This tour operator and our driver are both highly recommended by me and my family.

We had an amazing experience with our guide Anees. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely pleasant to talk to throughout the whole tour. From the beginning, he made us feel like family rather than just tourists, which made the experience very comfortable and enjoyable. My day trip to Umm Qais was truly peaceful, beautiful, blanketed in flowers, calming, biblical views. Jerash also historical was stunning. I was happy to experience such nature, beauty and history. A visit to the mosaic city of Madaba was also impressive, historic with very talented mosaic artists. My wonderful experience to Umm Qais, Jerash and Madaba would not have been possible without the assistance of my experienced, safe, English speaking, knowledgeable, honest, kind and considerate driver Ibrahim Khateeb. Mr Khateeb has excellent safe driving skills, was polite, punctual, a gentleman, patient, with a strong knowledge of Jordan. Mr Khateeb gave me very useful information about many places in Jordan for which I am grateful.
