Excursion confirmed to the description with guide bringing us important information only flat in English and Spanish and not in French as indicated at the time of booking but in the end it was a simple English to understand
Having read about Italica is was a very nice adventure. Sergio was very pleasant and well informed. It's less than 4 hours and that was very much appreciated as it turned out to be a hot day.
Our guides were Daniela and Alejandro. We loved the excursion to Italica and the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo. Awesome.
Beware of Viator. We were booked for Italica at a steep price. We were contacted less than 24 hours before the tour to let us know of a change in time due the marathon. (They were caught by surprise by a marathon?) All this for Italica to be closed due to weather related issues —which were also in effect for a while. Huge waste of time. I’m removing the Viator app and suggest you do the same.
The guide, Jesus, was well informed and presented information about the site professionally and with humor. His English is heavily accented and sometimes he used a false cognate; however, as someone who worked with Spanish speakers for decades, I was able to understand him. The ruins are fascinating and the restoration has been done with care. Be prepared to do a lot of walking on rough, uneven surfaces with level changes. Sturdy shoes are a must. Some reviewers have mentioned problems - scheduling and availability of guides- with this tour. Fortunately, there were no issues today.
Good experience. Tour guide was well informed, entertaining and enthusiastic. Good 1/2 day option if you have time.
We met at our assigned time, but the bus in tour guide were 20 minutes late. But that was OK and she was very knowledgeable and personable and we had a great day. She split the group into English speakers and Spanish speakers. That was good until the Spanish-speaking tour guide went home and she had to do both. She did a great job! It was a good experience for a large bus tour. We prefer smaller tours, but our guide was really good!
The roads are windy and the bus sways a lot so if you are prone to motion sickness it can be an issue. We left the tour at Alvia and returned via train. You are a bit rushed through Sagovia and Alvia. Leaving the tour allowed us to spend several hours in Alvia walking the walls.
Our tour guide, Manuel, was fantastic. He was patient, knowledgeable, and passionate about the history he was teaching.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that Manuel made it a memorable experience. His passion and dedication truly shine through, and we'll make sure he receives your lovely feedback. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure soon! Warm regards,
Fascinating to see Italica and learn some of its history. Beware this tour is not as advertised. It is not 4hrs in Italica. You get about 2 hrs. The rest is travelling there and back plus a 30 minute stop off at a nearby monastery which is not advertised in this write up. There is another tour company who does advertise the monastery and Italica. However I specifically chose this tour because it didn't go to the monastery. I think there are 2 tour companies and they joined the tours together so we had to go to the monastery whether we liked it or not. Very poor. Tour guide wasn't the greatest either. He gave more information about Spain in general rather than the actual city of Italica
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad to hear you found the visit to Itálica fascinating and appreciated learning about its history. We’re truly sorry the tour did not meet your expectations. The total duration of the experience includes transportation time as Itálica is located outside Seville. The visit to the nearby monastery of San Isidoro del Campo is included in some of our departures to offer a broader historical perspective of the area, and we regret if this wasn’t clearly stated at the time of booking. We also take note of your comments regarding the guide and the focus of the commentary, and will pass this along to our team to improve the experience. Your feedback helps us refine our communication and services, and we truly appreciate it. Warm regards,
