Deze tour is een must in Istanbul. U begint de dag met het Romeinse Hippodroom, waar de wagenrennen werden georganiseerd door de Romeinen en Byzantijnen. De Blauwe Moskee, de enige moskee met zes minaretten, en de omgeving zijn onze volgende plek om te bezoeken. Vervolgens ziet u de Germaine-fontein, een geschenk van keizer Wilhelm II, en luistert u naar de verhalen over zijn liaison met het oosten. Tickets voor het Hagia Sophia-museum zijn niet inbegrepen, het is optioneel om tickets te bezoeken, kosten 25 euro per persoon. Na de bezoeken neemt uw gids u mee naar de Grote Bazaar voor een demonstratie van Turks handwerk. Het Topkapi Museum is het grootste... het belangrijkste museum van Turkije en het Balkanschiereiland. Het is een onvergelijkbaar rijke schatkist, vol met dingen van historisch belang. Eerste, tweede, derde en vierde binnenplaatsen, de Audiëntiezaal, Divan -het hooggerechtshof-, historische keukens, koninklijke stallen, de schatkamer, tuinen, kiosken...

Het Hippodrome van Constantinopel was een circus dat het sportieve en sociale centrum was van Constantinopel, de hoofdstad van het Byzantijnse rijk. Tegenwoordig is het een plein met de naam Sultanahmet Meydanı in de Turkse stad Istanbul, met een paar fragmenten van de oorspronkelijke structuur die bewaard zijn gebleven.
De Duitse fontein is een tuinhuisje stijl fontein in het noordelijke uiteinde van het oude hippodroom, Istanbul, Turkije en tegenover het Mausoleum van Sultan Ahmed I. Het werd gebouwd ter herdenking van de tweede verjaardag van het bezoek van de Duitse keizer Wilhelm II aan Istanbul in 1898.
De Sultan Ahmed-moskee is een historische moskee in Istanboel, Turkije. Een populaire toeristenplaats, de Sultan Ahmed-moskee blijft vandaag als moskee functioneren. De Blauwe Moskee, zoals het in de volksmond bekend staat, werd gebouwd tussen 1609 en 1616 tijdens het bewind van Ahmed I.

Hagia Irene of Hagia Eirene, soms ook bekend als Saint Irene, is een Griekse Oosters-orthodoxe kerk op de buitenste binnenplaats van het Topkapı-paleis in Istanbul. Het is een van de weinige kerken in Istanbul die nog niet is omgebouwd tot moskee. De Hagia Irene werkt vandaag als een museum en concertzaal.
Het Topkapı-paleis, of de Seraglio, is een groot museum in Istanbul, Turkije. In de 15e eeuw diende het als hoofdverblijf en administratief hoofdkwartier van de Ottomaanse sultans. De bouw begon in 1459 in opdracht van Mehmed de Veroveraar, zes jaar na de verovering van Constantinopel.
De Caferağa Medresseh is een voormalige Medrese, gelegen in Istanbul, Turkije, naast de Hagia Sophia. Het werd gebouwd in 1559 door Mimar Sinan in opdracht van Cafer Ağa, tijdens het bewind van Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent.
Soğukçeşme Sokağı is een kleine straat met historische huizen in de wijk Sultanahmet in Istanbul, Turkije, ingeklemd tussen de Hagia Sophia en het Topkapı-paleis. De autovrije zone straat is vernoemd naar de fontein aan het einde ervan richting Gülhane Park.

The tour was perfectly organized. We visited Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar in one day without feeling rushed. The guide spoke very clear English and explained the history in a very interesting way. The lunch was also delicious and authentic. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to discover the history of Istanbul in a short time.

This was a really nice way to explore Istanbul 🌟 The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia were both impressive and definitely worth seeing. Topkapi Palace added a deeper understanding of the history. We really enjoyed this tour around Istanbul Old City, Visiting Sultan Ahmed Mosque and Hagia Sophia was something special, both places are full of history and atmosphere. Topkapı Palace was also very interesting, especially the stories about the Ottoman period. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and explained things in a simple way that kept everyone engaged. Ending the day at Grand Bazaar was a great tour.

The tour was overall average. The itinerary covered the main sights, but it’s important to know that there are shopping stops included, which were not clearly emphasized beforehand. If you prefer tours without shopping pressure, this may not be ideal. The lunch provided was quite basic.

If you want a full introduction to Istanbul’s most iconic places, this tour is absolutely worth it. The Blue Mosque was breathtaking with its detailed architecture, and the guide explained its history in such an engaging way. Hagia Sophia amazed me with its blend of faiths and centuries-old artwork. Topkapi Palace felt like walking through a time capsule of the Ottoman Empire. Truly an unforgettable experience!

I’ve done Viator tours all over the world and this is the first time I’ve given a low score. To start off the bus came to our hotel 30 minutes before our listed departure time and sent someone to find us in the restaurant. They did not speak English and when we got on the bus there were many confused people from different countries. They gave no explanation of what was happening and they had some people getting off the bus and had some staying but we along were others weren’t clear on if we should stay or get off the bus. This continued for over an hour. Then we arrived at the Haifa Sophia and were told we would not be entering because the cost was $25 EU. We paid over $200 USD per person for the tour and the description states that the admission is included. The tour guide was knowledgeable but we did not get to enter the building. Next we were supposed to go to the Grand Bazaar but it was Sunday so closed so instead they took us to a department store where they put us in a room and had a fashion show and then high pressure sales. This was not what we signed up for and we had limited time in Istanbul so decided to leave the tour early and venture off on our own. Steer clear of this tour.
