SULTANAHMET IMPERIAL MOSQUE Tegenover St. Sophia gebouwd in de 16e eeuw door de architect Mehmet, staat bekend als de BLAUWE MOSKEE vanwege zijn prachtige interieurdecoratie van blauwe Iznik-tegels.
In dit labyrint van straten en doorgangen bevinden zich meer dan 4.000 winkels met elk een eigen gebied: de goudsmedenstraat, de tapijtverkopers, Turkse kunstnijverheid, zoals handgeschilderde keramische platen, handgeslepen koperwerk, koperwerk en schalen, waterkannen , onyx-ware en meerschuimpijpen.
Deze oude basiliek, gebouwd door Constantijn de Grote in de 4e eeuw en gereconstrueerd door Justinianus in de 6e eeuw, is een van de architectonische wonderen aller tijden.
Topkapi-paleis Het grote paleis van de Ottomaanse sultans uit de 15e tot de 19e eeuw, met een prachtige collectie kristal-, zilver- en Chinees porselein, gewaden gedragen door de sultans en hun families. De beroemde juwelen van de keizerlijke schatkist, miniaturen, de heilige mantel; betoverende relieken van de profeet Mohammed.

Try and avoid Friday and Saturday - the crowds were immense. Our guide was excellent with a superb knowledge of ancient history as he explained the significance of each mosque and monument.

Great day experiencing some of the main sites in Istanbul . Our guide Burak was very knowledgeable and welcoming. showed us all the best photo spots and accommodated our pace. He also facilitated a skip the line ticket option on arrival. The sites are a must see, words would be an understatement. Burak is also an expert of the grand bazar. This tour was a great introduction to Istanbul and Sultanahmet. Our tour guide Ozgen was knowledgeable great personality and kind. Even though we were there on a public holiday with lots of people we never felt rushed and could see everything we wanted to. Ozgen even took us to her favourite restaurant for lunch and we returned there the next day. I thoroughly recommend this tour early in your visit to Istanbul as you come away with a fount of knowledge about Turkey and its history. Thank Ozgen for making our stay in Istanbul a standout.
