Fort Santiago is een citadel die voor het eerst werd gebouwd door de Spaanse zeevaarder en gouverneur Miguel López de Legazpi voor de nieuwe stad Manilla in de Filipijnen. Het verdedigingsfort maakt deel uit van de structuren van de ommuurde stad Manilla aangeduid als Intramuros.
José Rizal, één van de Filipijnse nationale helden, zat hier gevangen voor zijn executie in 1896. Het Rizal Shrine museum toont memorabilia van de held in hun collectie en de fort kenmerken, ingebed op de grond in brons, zijn voetstappen vertegenwoordigen zijn laatste wandeling van zijn cel naar de locatie van de daadwerkelijke executie.
De Kleine Basiliek en Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, ook bekend als de Kathedraal van Manilla (Spaans: Catedral de Manila), is de kathedraal van Manilla en de basiliek gelegen in Intramuros, de historische ommuurde stad binnen de hedendaagse moderne stad Manilla, Filippijnen. Het is gewijd aan de Onbevlekte Ontvangenis, een titel voor de Heilige Maagd Maria, de belangrijkste patrones van het land. De kathedraal dient als de bisschoppelijke zetel van de aartsbisschop van Manilla.

Het Memorare – Manila 1945 Monument herdenkt de levens die verloren zijn gegaan tijdens de strijd voor de bevrijding van Manilla, gevoerd door Filipijnse en Amerikaanse troepen tegen Japanse keizerlijke troepen van 3 februari 1945 tot 3 maart 1945.
Een rooms-katholieke kerk voltooid in 1607 en was een van de grote kerken gebouwd tijdens de Spaanse koloniale periode aangewezen als een World Heritage Site door UNESCO, onder de collectieve titel Baroque Churches of the Philippines
Casa Manila is een museum in Intramuros dat de koloniale levensstijl tijdens de Spaanse kolonisatie van de Filipijnen weergeeft. Het museum is de imposante stenen en houten structuur uit ca. 1850, een van de grote huizen in Barrio San Luis (een van de vier oorspronkelijke dorpen van Intramuros) ligt tegenover de historische San Agustin kerk en wordt begrensd door Calle Real, General Luna, Cabildo en Urdaneta straten. De andere twee zijn de Los Hidalgos, ca. 1650 en Cuyugan Mansion, ca. 1890.

We enjoyed the tour. Denji was a young chap with superb knowledge of the history of Philippines and was great at explaining the intricacies of the places. We also enjoyed the horse carriage ride and the mango ice cream. I highly recommend this tour.

Incredible tour with a lot of history and good information. It was great to learn so much about the Philippines. I was born in the Angeles City, Philippines and moved to the US when I was 13. It was an amazing experience for me to learn so much our Philippine history. The added Casa Manila at the end was special. It was great to see what a house would have looked like in the olden days. Seeing Manila Carhedral was incredible as we’ve traveled and seen churches all over Europe. The history of Intramuros and Jose Rizal was enlightening. Our tour guide was Denji who was very knowledgeable, passionate about Philippine history, wonderfully hospitable as Filipinos tend to be and enthusiastic! He is accredited by the Department of Tourism. He timed the tour very well. We also got to ride a kalesa (horse drawn like carriage) which is a must do in Manila. We loved learning how Manila got its name. We have since told everyone while we are in the Philippines. DON’T SKIP MANILA tours are a great way to learn about the culture. This was a great walking tour. Our guide Anne was very knowledgeable about the history of Manila. We all learned so much today about our heritage. Would highly recommend this tour of Intramuros. If we just did the same tour on our own it would not have been nearly as impactful.

Andrei was an excellent tour guide. He really explained the Fort and Intramuros in relation to Philippine history. There was also a calesa ride as well as free Filipino street ice cream and water. It was very enlightening. Intramuros has improved a lot and is worth a visit.
