Imigongo Painting Class

Jaren geleden, in de tijd van de Rwandese koningen, was er ooit een prins die besloot zijn huis te versieren door geometrische vormen met koeienmest op de muur van zijn hut te gieten. Na verloop van tijd werd deze techniek ontwikkeld tot een populaire vorm van traditionele Rwandese kunst genaamd "Imigongo." Tijdens je workshop leer je de geschiedenis van Imigongo Art in Rwanda. Je zult dan je eigen gekozen Imigongo (koeienmest Kunst) schilderen om mee te nemen.

Great fun! A very special type of art. The studio was cosy and our guides friendly and attentive. Even as someone with not much artisitc skill, I managed to design a painting I very much enjoyed.

My husband, my friend, and I recently visited Azizi to paint Imigongo with Theoneste. Theoneste was a fantastic host, sharing the history of Imigongo in a fun, engaging way, telling stories, joking, and laughing with us. We really enjoyed our time there and highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kigali!

This was an enjoyable date night with my husband. Before we started painting the instructor gave us a brief history lesson on how they started using cow dung. She was the perfect host. We were allowed to bring our own wine and played music 🎶. I definitely recommend if your in Kigali.
