All inclusive! Met 2,5 uur Ontdek de geschiedenis van Hue City temidden van de Franse en Amerikaanse oorlogen met lunch of diner. Je hebt een geplande ontmoeting met onze Gids in DMZ Restaurant & Bar voor een korte oriëntatie op de tour en om inzichten te krijgen in de strategische betekenis van Hue stad tijdens de Vietnamoorlog. De reis brengt je van de zuidkant naar de noordkant van Hue, over de iconische Truong Tien Bridge en Perfume River. We beginnen met een wandeling langs de belangrijkste boulevard van Hue, waarbij we historische bezienswaardigheden verkennen die verband houden met evenementen als de Franse Revolutie, Religieus Protest en Tet Offensief. Daarna nemen we je mee naar Dong Ba Market, een van Hue's oudste en levendigste markten, met een unieke culturele ervaring. Mis het niet om fingerfruit, zoete soep van ons te proberen! Verken verlaten bunkers in de stad na de oorlogen en bezoek vervolgens de eerste ronde citadel. Krijg inzicht in Vietnamese perspectieven op de oorlogen.

Het religieuze protest tegen het Ngo Dinh Diem-regime
Tijdens je bezoek leer je over de Anti-Tax Movement van 1908, toen lokale boeren en geleerden in opstand kwamen tegen zware koloniale belastingen en hard beleid. Terwijl we het gebied verkennen, zal onze Gids verhalen delen over de protesten, de mensen die ze leidden en hoe deze beweging de veerkracht en vastberadenheid van het Vietnamese volk weerspiegelde in hun strijd voor gerechtigheid
Herdenkingsrelikwie van oom Ho's deelname aan de anti-belastingbeweging bij de Centrale Ambassade, Hue In april 1908 was er een protest waarin de bevolking van Thua Thien Hue belastingverlaging eiste. Het protest vond plaats op 9 april 1908 en bereikte een hoogtepunt op 11 april 1908 toen boeren uit zes districten zich verzamelden om het Nuntiatuurpaleis te omsingelen om eisen te stellen. President Ho Chi Minh was toen nog een student, samen met een aantal andere Quoc Hoc-studenten die zich ook bij de anti-belastingprotestgroep hadden aangesloten; "Oom Ho" gebruikte zijn kennis van het Frans om als tolk mensen te helpen. Het Nuntiatuurpaleis bestaat vandaag de dag niet meer, het werd in 1945 volledig verwoest. Ter herinnering aan deze plek, die getuige was van de eerste patriottische acties van president Ho Chi Minh, richtte het Ho Chi Minh Thua Thien Hue Museum Thien Hue een symbool op van Nguyen Tat Thanh ( President Ho Chi Minh) die in 1908 deelnam aan de anti-belastingbeweging ter herdenking.
Hierna begeleiden we u naar de Dong Ba-markt, een levendig winkelcentrum in Hue, Vietnam, dat wordt gevierd als een van de oudste markten van de stad. Het neemt een speciale plaats in in de lokale cultuur en biedt een unieke sfeer die echt de moeite waard is om te ervaren! We laten je vingerfruit proberen.
Bij Trường Tiền Bridge leer je hoe dit iconische symbool van Huế een belangrijk doelwit werd tijdens de Vietnamoorlog. De brug werd meerdere malen zwaar gebombardeerd en verwoest, waardoor de toegang over de Parfumrivier werd afgesneden en enkele van de hevigste gevechten in de stad werden gemarkeerd. Vandaag de dag, als je over de brug loopt, staat de brug niet alleen als een vitale schakel voor de stad, maar ook als een herinnering aan Huế's veerkracht en herstel na de oorlog
9 kanonnen die Hue-ambachtslieden wierpen in het tweede jaar van Gia Long (1803). Negen kanonnen worden beschouwd als een van de meest waardevolle bronzen kunstwerken. De oude negen kanonnen werden geplaatst aan de voet van de keizerlijke citadel, bij de ingang van de Ngo Mon-poort – de keizerlijke stad Hue. Tijdens het bewind van koning Khai Dinh werden ze verplaatst naar hun huidige positie.
Een architectonisch monument van de Nguyen-dynastie, gelegen in het midden van de zuidkant van de Hue-citadel in het Nam Chanh-fort, dat ook de plek is om de vlag van het koninklijk hof op te hangen.

Bem was a great travel guide on our trip to Hue! She did a great job sharing her knowledge of Vietnam's history, brought us to the local market, and we ended the trip at a very good local restaurant. She made sure to accommodate our friend who is a vegetarian. Make sure to order multiple beers!

Fascinating walk with Bem who explained much of Hue’s history from the VN perspective. There is much to learn. Would have liked more info about the Battle for Hue in ‘68. That aside it’s different to the usual tours of Imperial Hue, and provides much more context.

This tour is designed to give a broad “backbone” view of Huế’s history, from around 1310 to the present day. Within 2.5 hours, we aim to provide an overall understanding of how the city has evolved through different periods — including the French and American wars, — while also introducing local culture, the market, and everyday life. Because of the limited time, it isn’t possible to go into deep detail about every single historical event. Regarding the Battle of Huế in 1968: if you are particularly interested in this topic, we would highly recommend our Huế Imperial City Walking Tour. In that tour, we go inside the Citadel and explore in much more detail the areas that were heavily affected by the fighting during the Tết Offensive.
