Hai Van Pass of Sea Clouds Pass biedt een indrukwekkend landschap van groene bergen en heldere blauwe luchten, met uitzicht op Da Nang City, de haven van Tien Sa, het schiereiland Son Tra en de Zuid-Chinese Zee. Het oversteken van een uitloper van Truong Son-gebergte tussen de provincie Thua Thien-Hue en de stad Da Nang, staat op 500 meter boven zeeniveau en is daarmee de hoogste pas in Vietnam. De 25 kilometer lange bergpas is populair onder motorrijders die op zoek zijn naar spanning vanwege de bochtige wegen, plotselinge bochten en blinde hoeken, terwijl het uitkijkpunt een prachtig uitzicht biedt op de baai van Da Nang.
Lập Een lagune (ook bekend als An Cư Lagoon) is een 800 hectare grote brakke waterlagune in Hue en een deel van de baai van Lăng Cô, Phu Loc District, gelegen tussen de Hai Van Pass en de Phu Gia Pass. Tegen de achtergrond van een prachtig Bach Ma-gebergte en met uitzicht op het prachtige strand van Lăng Cô, is Lập An lagune een van de opmerkelijke natuurlijke landschappen in Hue, vaak beschreven door reisliefhebbers een plek waar berg en oceaan samenkomen.
Omdat het een van de zeven UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocaties van Vietnam is, is de keizerlijke stad Hue al lang een must-see attractie voor toeristen die een verborgen charme van Vietnam bezoeken. De keizerlijke stad Hue was eigenlijk een ommuurd fort en het paleis behoorde tot de oude stad Hue, die 140 jaar lang een hoofdstad van de Nguyen-dynastie was, die dateert van 1805 tot 1945.
De Thien Mu-pagode, gelegen aan de schilderachtige Huong-rivier, met zijn oude architectuur, voegt zijn charme toe aan deze prachtige natuurlijke omgeving. Het geluid van de Thien Mu-bel is als de ziel van Hue, die steeds weerklinkt boven de Huong-rivier die zich een weg baant voor de Citadel naar de zee, resonerend in de harten en geesten van de mensen en bezoekers van Hue, de oude hoofdstad .
De koninklijke tombe van de Nguyen-keizer Khai Dinh is uniek onder de koninklijke graven in Hue, Vietnam. Waar andere koninklijke graven uitgestrekt zijn en respectvolle reflectie uitnodigen, bouwde Khai Dinh zijn laatste rustplaats monumentaal van stijl en bombastisch in uitvoering. Plus, als de lokale gidsen moeten worden geloofd, was het graf van Khai Dinh speciaal ontworpen om moeilijk te bezoeken te zijn. Het graf werd gebouwd op de zijkant van een berg en het binnenste heiligdom is 127 treden hoger dan op straatniveau, een feit dat de hofambtenaren moet hebben geraspt die op straffe van hun leven verplicht waren hun respect te betuigen aan de overleden keizer. Gelukkig zorgt vervoer naar de graven en een gestage stroom van rondleidingen ervoor dat bezoekers aan de graven van Khai Dinh niet langer hoeven te lijden zoals die hovelingen deden. If you’re in Vietnam, you can’t miss a tour of the Imperial Palace in Hue. I took a private tour from Da Nang with Hung as my guide and it was the highlight of my trip. Hung speaks excellent English and was able to provide cultural history and insights that I never would have experienced without him. He tailored the entire excursion to ensure I experienced everything Hue has to offer. I can’t recommend this tour company enough. I initially thought a private tour would be beyond my budget, but I was wrong. It was extremely affordable and exploring the area with a local is the only way to experience Da Nang, Hoi An or Hue!
Our guide "Eric" was fantastic. He really catered the pace of the trip to our needs. We wanted lots of information about the sites and Vietnam, which he was happy to provide. When we said we needed a pure veg restaurant for lunch, he found the perfect place with delicious food. When we wanted to add a boat ride on the perfume river he was happy to provide ( though we decided against it due to our tiredness). Hue Citadel was beautifully restored. We loved the locals in traditional dress who came for photographs. The driver was excellent.

This was a fabulous tour. The guide Tung was an absolute delight with excellent English and the driver was a skilled driver who was also very nice. Together they gave us a wonderful introduction to Vietnam history and to this beautiful area area of the country.

Tung, our tour guide, is knowledgable, multilingual and a gentleman. The tour was enjoyable from start to finish. The driver, Tuk is exceptional and has a great sense for enjoyable music. I would do this tour again if I could. The tour was conducted in Japanese & English and Tung took lots of wonderful pictures.

Having a private guide and driver provided for an excellent experience. The guide was extremely informative as we toured the citadel and the king’s tomb, which were made of intricate inlaid glass and porcelain. The history and culture of Vietnam really came to life.
Weather wasn't the best - rainy & cold. Guide said she wasn't informed of the detailed itinerary which we signed up for, so we skipped seeing Hai Van pass, Hai Van Quan & Lang Vo Bay on the way to Hue, partly due to the weather too. Instead she brought us to the pearl factory which wasn't really meaningful to us as the staff doing the explanation wasn't proficient in English. It was more for retail we assume. Luckily we reminded her that there is also dragon boat cruise included so she booked it for us. Improvement for the guide - wished there was more sharing about the place of Hue in general, the people etc, not just on the sites we visited. Many times there was just silence as we walked, at times I had to ask where were we heading to. She took nice photos for us though. The vehicle provided was a little small for us too, though there were only 3 of us. My husband who is not very tall sat at the back uncomfortably throughout the whole journey. But the driver was helpful though. On the whole, surely room for improvement.
The Imperial City was well worth the trip and Dat’s (our guide) stories of emperors, feuds, treachery and tragedy made the history come alive for us. A truly educational and inspiring day.

I always wanted to see both ancient and modern Vietnam. I had just one weekend in Da Nang so I was very happy to find a private tour to see Hue, Vietnam’s ancient capital, on Saturday, and the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills on Sunday. It was raining when we arrived at Hue. When it sopped and we walked around the Citadel, everything looked so mysterious like you stepped back in time. My guide Hung had a very good knowledge of Vietnamese history and had a great sense of humour. He made my trip very enjoyable.
Last minute booking. Guide had poor language skills. Paid premium £200+ for the trip for two. Poor knowledge of history and would not recommend.
Eric was an amazing tour guide!!! He was very informative and was able to personalize so much of the tour. He was funny and kind and it was really nice having him as the tour guide for the day. This was my first private tour anywhere and it’s definitely worth the money! I am very happy with it and would do it again!!
