Our guide was polite, but I felt inexperienced in addressing and controlling a large group. It was difficult to hear what she was saying at times during the tour. It would help if a microphone and ear pieces were used. Perhaps these devices are banned at the Space Centre as no one was using them?
Meredith was a great tour guide and really made the experience so much easier than having to try and navigate the JSC on your own. Meredith is well connected and very passionate about NASA. She has some really great insights into the JSC. It was very busy because of visiting World Cup fans but we got to see everything because we were on the tour and had a bit of time at the end before our 3pm pick up and short journey back to downtown Houston. We definitely picked the right way to get the most out of our visit.
We enjoyed NASA. The air conditioned bus was on time and easy to find. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and went out of her way to make sure we saw as much as possible. Make sure you book the control room experience (it sells out so book as early as possible)- it's extra but it was our highlight. The bus back was again easy to find and on time. The driver was excellent and the whole day was well managed.
As the weather was poor the outdoor exhibits and tour was cancelled. The tour guide appeared to be disorganised and unsure of what to do. People spent a lot of time standing around doing nothing. I would think that you would have a back up plan, appreciate that the weather is out of your control but that is not a good excuse. It was a waste of half a day really. I actually think there should be a refund.
My family and I are very disappointed with this tour. We paid $300 for this experience, and we could have had the same experience by visiting the space center without a guide (likely a better experience as we would have time to read the plaques and learn from the exhibits rather than follow our guide around and wait to see if he would provide relevant information). While very pleasant, our guide Eddie did not provide a comprehensive learning experience. He gave only superficial information with multiple flaws and inaccuracies. It felt poorly planned and he was difficult to follow. It felt more like an elementary school tour. Also, we waited an hour in the food court while he tried to get us tickets for the tram tour (which was kind of him to wait for us), though this should have been pre booked due to the price of the tour. We were also unable to access the training facility tour. I would suggest you attend on your own. I have booked tours with Viator in the past that were at a much higher level than was provided with this experience. Other than that, our tour was on time and our driver Mike was excellent. It was well organized up until we entered the space center.
We were on time! When we arrived at NASA, the tour expert was a woman to take over guide tour. She said something shortly about reservation for group, but she did not go at the end of line or count people in the group or check if everybody in the group was there. She ended up left me & my daughter behind. She did not forget her coffee or smoothie drink but she left us out of the group!!! I took a lot of tours in New York, Montreal-Quebec, none of the tour guide left us as we were always on time. The security just took a lil longer to check my bag, and she did not wait for us extra 2 minutes??!! (There was a family the husband was late 10 minutes before the shuttle left, and they waited for him!!!) Everybody else in the group got to experience campus tour except 2 of us. Luckily, I located 2 guys from our group and they showed us email they received about tour details, so I knew we supposed to leave by 3pm. I did not receive email about tour details. Never never book tour with this company!!! For NASA, Houston city pass & Lyft or Uber drive would be cheaper than this company!!!
If you love space exploration, you will love this tour and the guide, Meredith, who has a lifetime of knowledge about NASA. You will not have time to see everything on the tour so plan an extra day to walk through the exhibits at your own pace.
Lots of things to see and do. Take time to see an astronaut speak and go to rocket park. Space exploration is fascinating from a lot of different angles. Merideth was our tour guide and she was very amazing and passionate about her family legacy at the Space Center.
Absolutely great. The Driver cum guide Eddy was very helpful. The timings by viator were precise. Ramani.m.Vaidyanathan.
The booking promised a 9:30am pick up from the meeting point and an "Expert Guide" to lead us throughout our tour of Houston Space Centre. Our group of 6 arrived early at the meeting point and were joined by about 20 other people. Two vans arrived and people started boarding, we were ushered onto a second van with three other people. The first van departed and we waited for a late comer who actually never arrived. After a delay of 15 minutes we too departed for Houston Space Centre. On arrival we skipped the line at the entrance and were led to the Food Hall where we waited while our van driver guide went to get tickets. It wasn't until 10:45am that we lined up for our first tour, "The Rocket Park". The driver/guide provided scant information about the Saturn V rocket and was drowned out by a guide using an amplifier with another group. We were rushed through the park because we had to get back for our Mission Control Centre Tour which, fortunately we had booked the Mission Control Tour separately beforehand because it was totally booked out for the day. Our delayed start had serious ramifications on the timing of the day and what we got to see. While we did our Mission Control Tour our driver/Guide accompanied the remainding 3 members of the group on a different tour. He gave us tickets for the Astronaut Training tour before we left, and arranged to meet us and show us where to go after our tour. However, we could not locate him so we found our own way and did the Astronaunt Traing Tour as well. We did not see our driver/guide again until 2:50pm. He told us to explore on our own and meet him by the van at 3:30pm. Apart from providing transport and jumping the queue at the entrance, there was no value in having the supposed Expert Guide - we would have been better off taking an Uber and doing the rest ourselves. We were extremely disappointed.
