Spring op de hop on, hop off-bus en verken Athene met alle onmisbare bezienswaardigheden in het historische centrum van de stad. Bezoek de heuvel van de Akropolis en bewonder alle monumenten zoals het Parthenon, de Tempel van Nike, het Erechtheion en het theater van Dionysus. Met de zelfgeleide audiotour door de Akropolis ontmoet je alle historische informatie, maar krijg je ook de kans om lokale verhalen te horen, waarvan sommige anekdotisch zijn. Ga verder naar het Akropolismuseum waar de bevindingen van de heilige heuvel worden bewaard. Loop door de kamers en duik diep in de grote geschiedenis met een speciale audiogids. Mis het niet om door de oude binnenstad van Athene, de wijk Plaka, te slenteren en verdwaal in de smalle labyrintische straatjes vol huizen en herenhuizen. De Akropolis is een archeologisch wonder, een UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocatie en een van de meest direct herkenbare bezienswaardigheden van Athene. Ontvang je ticket op je telefoon en bekijk de oude Griekse tempel van Parthenon die is gewijd aan Athena, de godin van de oorlog, evenals Propylae, de tempel van Athena Nike, Erecheion en Herodes Atticus vanaf de top. Bewonder Parthenon en zijn geweldige uitzichten in je eigen tempo tijdens deze solo-verkenning van de bakermat van de westerse beschaving. De Akropolis torent hoog boven de hoofdstad uit en is een zeer indrukwekkend gezicht, en als je rondloopt op het terrein, krijgt de bezoeker een gevoel van ontzag en een echt gevoel van de grootsheid van de oude Grieken.
Bezoek het Akropolismuseum, waar enkele van de belangrijke werken uit de hedendaagse architectuur en waardevolle vondsten uit de monumenten van de Akropolis te zien zijn. Bewonder de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden zoals votieven, kunstvoorwerpen uit het dagelijks leven, beelden uit de archaïsche periode, kariatiden en natuurlijk de majestueuze Parthenonzaal met de metopen, de frontons en de fries.

The bus was on time, the route was good. The website says the bus runs until 8, so I thought we'd be able to catch it after our 6pm acropolis visit, however, the last bus actually leaves the acropolis stop at 6:30pm, so we had to take transit/ walk back to the hotel.
Horrible experience!! We have taken many Viator tours and Hop on Hop off buses in many cities. Do Not get the Acropolis option on this tour. We bought this on a Friday late afternoon to go for 24 hours. They sent the Acropolis tix at 8 pm via email and we did not find out about until we called the next day. They then informed us the tickets expired and Viator refused to give us a refund. We took the bus at 6:15 pm the previous night and asked the bus driver how and when we could get the Acropolis tickets. He said they will let you know. Absolutely do not recommend this. Much better option is to buy tickets online, even scan in the barcode while in line is safer and you won’t waste your money on this scam!!!

The audio tours were not provided, only the museum tour which is provided for free at the museum anyway.

Bus was easy to take from the cruise port, onboard commentary was great, stops are clearly marked, Acropolis and museum were unforgettable experiences. Liked be able to do it on our own and not being tied to your time limits
