De locatie van Maungauika bij de ingang van de Waitematā-haven maakte het tot een belangrijke kustverdediging. Het was de vrees voor een Russische invasie in de jaren 1880 die leidde tot de bouw van een fort en de drie verdwijnende kanonbatterijen verspreid langs de maunga (berg).
Mount Eden is de hoogste vulkaan van de 52 vulkanen van Auckland. Het is 196 meter hoog. Vanaf de top kunt u genieten van een spectaculair uitzicht over de stad en de havens.
Cornwall Park is het grootste vulkanische park in Auckland. Er is ook een ander park in Cornwall Park, dat "One Tree Hill" is Er zijn veel bomen en dieren in dit park. Je voelt de geweldige natuur in het stadscentrum.
Holy Trinity Cathedral is 's werelds enige architectonische voorbeeld van een Pacific-gotische kathedraal. Je kunt tegelijkertijd een gevoel van grootsheid en schoonheid voelen. Je kunt ook de St. Mary Church zien, die bijna uitsluitend is gemaakt van hart Kauri, een inheems hout uit Nieuw-Zeeland, en is een van de weinige houten kerken ter wereld die in gotische stijl is gebouwd.
Gelegen in Auckland Domain Park. U kunt genieten van de meest populaire prachtige binnentuin.
Auckland War Memorial Museum is het eerste museum van Nieuw-Zeeland. Het Auckland Museum, opgericht in 1852 in een boerderij met twee kamers in Grafton, een buitenwijk van Auckland, wordt erkend als het bezit van nationaal en internationaal belangrijke collecties.

This is actually a review of the half-day tour (see below). Well organized. It includes the highlights that you want to see when you have a short time in Auckland. Tour guide Sean was great. Friendly, accommodating, informative. We booked the full day tour, but the only difference was that was to it include a trip to the War Memorial Museum (ticket NOT included). But the vast majority of the museum happened to be closed that day. But the tour company reimbursed the difference (not including the Viator commission). Kudos to them.

Our guide was amazing! She was punctual & courteous and guided as through the most amazing highlights with great knowledge of each one of them. All of it was just breathtakingly beautiful. The history of Mount Eden & One Tree Hill was very interesting. Our final stop was at the Kew Gardens showcasing a Winter Garden, the Temperate House and the Fernery. We couldn’t have asked for more. The tour was accompanied by a great guide. We never had time pressure and a lot was explained. All described points were approached. There were only two of us on the road with the guide. Finally there was a slideshow of the pictures he took with us, via WhatsApp. Really great!!

Had a blast going around with Lenna, our tour guide, who brought us all around Auckland. She was lovely and when the weather turned bad, she did everything she could to make it comfortable for us. Her charm and humour truly got to us both. She was very knowledgeable about the city, shared her own anecdotes and her own experiences with the city. Highly recommended for those who are looking to get to best bits of Auckland in a relatively quick fashion.
