Beschrijving
Deze tour neemt je mee op een sightseeingrit door de stad Honiara. Vooral gericht op belangrijke bezienswaardigheden, kathedralen, winkelcentra en de centrale markt. Tijdens de tour kunnen reizigers vragen stellen, foto's maken, de weg vragen en korte stops aanvragen. Een lokale gids geeft een kort overzicht van de locaties, beantwoordt eventuele vragen en vertaalt indien nodig van Pidgin naar het Engels. Dit is een rondreis waarbij u wordt opgehaald en afgezet.

Deze touroptie begint bij de herdenkingstuin van de Salomonseilanden. De herdenkingstuin ligt ten oosten van Honiara, op het Henderson-veld, de plek van de slag om Guadalcanal. De herdenkingstuin is een heerlijke plek om te bezoeken en na te denken over wat er tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog is gebeurd. Het staat vol met kaarsenbomen en plaquettes in verschillende vormen ter herdenking van soldaten die zijn omgekomen tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog op de Salomonseilanden. De plaquettes zijn prachtig vormgegeven en maken de hele plaats erg ontroerend, waardoor je je verdrietig voelt omdat het je doet denken aan wat er op deze plek is gebeurd tijdens TWEEDE WERELDOORLOG. Er zijn geen graven op de plek, het was zo eenvoudig, rustig en groen. In de tuin kunnen reizigers foto's maken en vragen stellen over de tuin. Ook kunnen ze op beschikbare banken zitten en nadenken of een moment van stilte inlassen om respect te tonen voor mensen die zijn overleden. Neem even de tijd om hen te bedanken. Doe bij binnenkomst uw eventuele hoofdbedekking af. De toegang is gratis en de tuin is ruim en biedt plaats aan ruim twintig personen.
Het Nationale Parlement of het ronde huis zoals beschreven door de inboorlingen bevindt zich op de Vaivaridge-heuvel. Voor deze tussenstop kunnen reizigers het parlementsgebouw bezoeken (als er geen vergadering is) en foto's maken. De gids zal ook een korte geschiedenis geven van de huidige en vroegere regering.
Voor deze stop begeleidt onze gids u naar het museum en kunt u door de kamer lopen, foto's maken en een praatje maken met de beheerder.
Meneer. Jacob Vouza was een van de vele inheemse helden van Guadalcanal tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Een monument ter ere van hem staat voor het Police Head Quater-gebouw in Rove, West Honiara. Bij deze tussenstop kunnen reizigers foto's maken en vragen stellen over het standbeeld.
De National Art Gallery in Honiara is een knooppunt met de vele verschillende kunst- en ambachten van de Salomonseilanden. De items die hier worden getoond en verkocht variëren van houtsnijwerk, lokale sieraden, lokale handtassen, boodschappentassen, kleding en nog veel meer. Er zijn ook lokale eetgelegenheden beschikbaar in de galerij. Voor deze stop kunnen reizigers foto's maken en kopen bij lokale verkopers.
Het monument, gelegen nabij de zeehaven in Honiara, herinnert aan de moed van de verkenners en kustwachters die van onschatbare waarde waren bij het voorzien van lokale inlichtingen aan de geallieerden in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Bij deze tussenstop kunnen reizigers foto's maken en vragen stellen over de bijdragen van de verkenners en kustwachters tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
De centrale markt van Honiara, gelegen in het hart van Honiara, is de drukste plaats in Honiara. Hier kwamen alle boeren rond Guadalcanal en enkele boeren uit de omliggende provincies samen om hun lokale producten te verkopen. Hier vindt u verse groenten, fruit en wortelgewassen. Reizigers kunnen lokaal fruit proeven, zoals groene kokosnoot, pinda's, gele bananen en vele andere. Ze kunnen er ook een paar kopen als ze dat willen.

Great excursion in Honiara! Overall, I really enjoyed it, especially the friendly and welcoming guide who organized a packed itinerary even on a Sunday. We managed to visit plenty of interesting places, leaving me with only positive impressions!

the tour was eventually combined with another pair who had booked world war two sites which was fine. pot hole tastic on the roads and the information on the war was interesting. the museum was not up to much and tanks on show were more interesting due to the trees growing in them. the two guides were very nice - chatty friendly and gave a good insight into Solomon Island life. Half day tour - in retrospect could do this walking around if you take your time - have an umbrella and keep your things safe on you.

This was an outstanding tour. Our tour guide was friendly and very welcoming! This is a great way to get an overall orientation to Honiara Island. We also learned about the history of the island as well as the country of Solomon. Such a wealth of great and interesting information. It’s a rainy day. The national museum wasn’t open without notice. However, the tour was still enjoyable: 1. The art gallery, despite the humble scale, is a real treasure. The paintings and sculptures by local talents are unique and meaningful. 2. We went to additional spots, the WWII monuments by both sides (US and Japan). They are there to memorialise and harbour the country’s past war history. The memorials present precious information for documenting the collective experience in human history and harbouring the emotional memory - which is far but still not-so-distant. 3. The warm and pure characters of the local people are the key charm of the country and the highlights of the tour. Thanks for the flexibility and organised arrangements!
