Schotland heeft een grote rol gespeeld in het verhaal van Harry Potter, van de schilderachtige filmlocaties en inspirerende architectuur tot de coffeeshop waar J.K. Rowling zou de eerste roman hebben geschreven. Met de Jacobitische Stoomtrein is een bucketlist ervaring voor elke reiziger, maar nog meer voor Harry Potter fans die weten dat ze in feite aan boord van de Hogwarts’ Express gaan! Verlaat de stad en reis naar het noorden richting de Hooglanden, langs de prachtige Forth Bridge
We maken onze eerste stop in Pitlochry, een pittoresk dorpje in de Highlands. Trakteer uzelf op een kopje koffie en gebak van een van de plaatselijke cafés en geniet van een wandeling door de charmante straatjes voordat onze reis ons verder naar het noorden brengt.
We stoppen in Glenfinnan waar we onze eerste glimp opvangen van het wereldberoemde Viaduct en het prachtige Loch Shiel, beide herkenbaar uit Harry Potter. Houd er rekening mee dat stoppen bij Glenfinnan om het Viaduct met de bus te bekijken afhankelijk is van beschikbaarheid.
We komen aan in Mallaig, het startpunt van onze Jacobite Steam Train-reis. Mallaig staat bekend als een vissersdorp, dus maak van de gelegenheid gebruik om wat fish and chips te proeven voordat de trein vertrekt.
Tijd om in de trein te stappen! De Jacobite Steam Train staat voor velen op de bucketlist en biedt een fantastisch uitzicht op de natuurlijke schoonheid van Schotland. Leun achterover, ontspan en verlies jezelf in de Hogwarts-ervaring.
Op de terugweg naar Edinburgh bezoeken we het meest dramatische landschap van Schotland, Glencoe, dat werd gebruikt als achtergrond voor enkele geliefde scènes in Harry Potter. Je gids zal je ook vergasten op de echte, hartverscheurende geschiedenis van de vallei.

- Kinderen jonger dan 5 jaar, inclusief baby's die geen zitplaats nodig hebben, mogen niet reizen. We zijn niet in staat om een kind jonger dan 5 jaar tegemoet te komen.
- Het is aan te raden om vervoer naar het vertrekpunt vooraf te boeken. Houd er ook rekening mee dat het extra tijd kost om bij het vertrekpunt te komen voor het inchecken. Wij adviseren u om ten minste 15 minuten voor vertrek van de tour aanwezig te zijn om tijd te hebben om in te checken voor de tour. Helaas kunnen we de bus niet vasthouden of restitutie verlenen voor late aankomsten.
- Houd er rekening mee dat de Jacobite Steam Train-service op korte termijn onderhevig kan zijn aan wijzigingen en annuleringen, buiten onze controle
- Terugkeertijden zijn bij benadering en afhankelijk van de wegomstandigheden en het weer. Zorg ervoor dat u voldoende tijd reserveert voor eventuele verdere reisplannen, waarbij u ten minste 3 uur na de geplande terugkomsttijd inplant voor aansluitingen of activiteiten.
- Het is niet mogelijk om uw Standard stoomtreinticket te upgraden naar een First Class ticket
- Stoppen bij Glenfinnan om het Viaduct te bekijken met de bus is afhankelijk van beschikbaarheid.
- Als u een audio Gids downloadt, vergeet dan niet uw headset mee te nemen.

Actually a super excursion. Of course, you sit in the tour bus for a very long time. This was cooled down by the air conditioning to a perceived 5 degrees at an outside temperature of 18 degrees. Even informing the driver only brought limited improvement. We bought sweaters on the way. Unfortunately, we only drove past the viaduct on the way there. The trip on the Hogwarts Express was dreamily beautiful. The other chosen stops were also well selected, with the exception of the last stop - here there was only a shop and a 40-minute stay. We would have preferred to stop longer somewhere else. The tour guide was nice and entertaining, however, it was often difficult to follow the fast Scottish slang. Nevertheless, a very beautiful and successful excursion, which we can recommend to everyone!
Alistair was an outstanding tour guide – entertaining, knowledgeable, and engaging! The views were beautiful, but the drive was really long. It is a shame that the exploration breaks were much too short – we would have liked more time here. Nevertheless, recommended thanks to Alistair!
A must-do tour with can't miss sights. Of course the train is once in a lifetime, but even all of the middle bits are unique and fantastic as well. Our guide Allistair was top-notch and ensured this rather long trip was enjoyable and well paced. Extremely professional, cheerful, knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.
Alistair was wonderful. Polite, articulate and full of history. Drove safely and was very punctual. Train was not worth it. Not traditional rail cars, not the rail cars from Harry Potter, misleading experience.
We ended up riding the diesel train instead of the iconic steam train for the glenfinnan viaduct route Apparently some of the other travellers were ill-informed too and started complaining on the day itself We received a notification via in-app messaging only. We all left our mobile number and email to contact for any changes, no other notification was sent.
Quite disappointed with the experience! Perhaps largely because of our guide, James, who seemed more concerned with his driving hours than with telling us anecdotes; he almost drove us into a field twice because he was in such a rush to get back to Edinburgh! We almost missed the train because of him! He told us to meet him on the platform at 12:50 PM even though the train was leaving at 12:50 PM!! It is thanks to a passenger that almost the entire group was able to board the train; one passenger actually missed the train. Then, he did the itinerary in reverse, he didn't give us much time during the stops to visit, they were more like bathroom breaks! And I would have expected to have more of a "Harry Potter" atmosphere on the train but nothing. In terms of marketing, there is room for improvement, i.e.: they could put up a "platform 9 3/4" sign, the train cars could be decorated according to the "Harry Potter" theme, the conductors could be in costume... In short, the price paid is not worth the experience! We feel like we've been on a long 13-hour bus ride!
Dusty was a fantastic guide and was the bright spot of the tour. He was very knowledgeable, engaging, and funny. Overall, I feel the price is a little high for what you get. The train ride was lackluster. With the price paid snacks and drinks should have been included. It was touted as The Hogwarts train but really had nothing to do with Harry Potter, which was a disappointment to the Harry Potter fans. It would be nice to add in some extra time to be able to explore on our own and have time to eat. Every stop was rushed to move on to another place. Maybe consider taking a few things out to give more time to see the sights.

Dusty was a fantastic driver/tourguide. He told us a lot of very interesting facts about Scotish history. He also made jokes and we laughed a lot. The bus was very modern and comfortable. The steam train itself was great, the waggons weren't. They didn't fit the train. Although the tour was interesting, we paid a lot of money for it. We wouldn't do that again.
It was a great trip. Dusty was a perfect driver and tour guide. Learned a lot of interesting and funny stuff. Saw beautiful sights, but unfortunately we only had grey skys.great trip
