Wonderful tour guide. The bus ride up had beautiful views and the tour of the Shire was incredible! Highly recommend!

Loved our visit to HOBBITON, it was our first stop on our NZ tour and what a high bar it has set. We haven’t seen the movies or read the books but our visit has inspired us to watch these when we return to Australia. Absolutely loved our visit, such beautiful scenery, it’s breathtaking.

I loved Hobbiton. It was an absolutely magical experience, larger than expected and so much detail. Our guide was exceptional.

Really enjoyed walking in the steps of Hobbits with fellow fans. The recreation of a hobbit house was excellent and I would happily live there 😊

This was actually a surprise from a very lovely person, which made the whole thing even more special. We were driving past Matamata and the moment I saw the Hobbiton signs I completely geeked out. I grew up watching the films, so even just being nearby had me ridiculously excited. We stopped at the shops and I was happily having a little look around, with absolutely no idea that I was about to be surprised with the full Hobbiton experience. And it was honestly unforgettable. Walking through the set and seeing everything come to life right in front of you was such a surreal feeling. Having grown up with the films, there was something really special about suddenly standing in this place I had seen on screen so many times and being able to take in all the little details for real. The whole experience was beautifully done and it felt like everyone in our group was caught up in the magic of it too, which made it even lovelier. Definitely one of those experiences I’ll remember for a very long time. A little childhood world brought to life right in front of me, and such a beautiful surprise to receive. An experience of a lifetime for this very happy little Hobbiton geek. 🤎

Awesome! The attention to detail is remarkable. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable and didn’t rush through letting people soak in the atmosphere . This is a must do when visiting NZ. Even if you’re not a fan you can still appreciate the dedication to detail and craftsmanship on display. The experience has added another layer of colour to both The Hobbit and LOTR novels .

Our guide Lana was a fantastic story teller, she really brought to life the Hobbiton set, and gave us opportunities to interact with props and take lots of photos. It was an immersive experience that included an opportunity to walk through and experience the interior space of a Hobbit hole. Towards the end of the tour we got to cheers in the Green Dragon with a drink (in my case a non-alcoholic ginger beer) which was so much fun. Also, as it was early spring, the blossoms were starting to bloom in the gardens and some of the early Springtime flowers were out. Hobbiton is such a delightful place to visit and it is so well presented.
