Independence Palace was de basis van de Vietnamese generaal Ngo Dinh Diem tot zijn dood in 1963. Het maakte zijn naam in de wereldgeschiedenis in 1975. Een tank van het Noord-Vietnamese leger stortte door zijn hoofdpoort en maakte een einde aan de oorlog in Vietnam. Tegenwoordig is het een must voor toeristen in Ho Chi Minh-stad. De Notre Dame-kathedraal van Saigon, gebouwd in de late jaren 1880 door Franse kolonisten, is een van de weinige overgebleven bolwerken van het katholicisme in het grotendeels boeddhistische Vietnam. Gevestigd op het Parijse plein, werd de naam Notre Dame gegeven na de installatie van het standbeeld 'Peaceful Notre Dame' in 1959. De opvallende neo-romaanse kenmerken van de kathedraal, die bijna 60 meter hoog zijn, zijn de geheel rode bakstenen gevel (die werden geïmporteerd uit Marseille), glas-in-loodramen, twee klokkentorens met zes bronzen bellen die nog steeds aanbellen en een vredige tuin in het midden van het centrum van Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Het centrale postkantoor in Ho Chi Minh is een prachtig bewaard gebleven overblijfsel uit de Franse koloniale tijd en misschien wel het grootste postkantoor in heel Zuidoost-Azië. Gelegen naast de Notre Dame kathedraal, kunnen de twee culturele sites samen worden bezocht en biedt bezoekers een kans om zich het leven in Vietnam voor te stellen in de tijd van het Indochinese rijk. Het gebouw is ontworpen door Alfred Foulhoux en heeft gebogen ramen en houten luiken, net zoals het zou zijn in zijn glorietijd in de late 19e eeuw.
Het War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh-stad werd voor het eerst geopend in 1975. Ooit bekend als het ‘Museum of American War Crimes’, is het een schokkende herinnering aan de lange en brutale oorlog in Vietnam. Grafische foto's en Amerikaanse militaire uitrusting worden getoond. Er is een helikopter met raketwerpers, een tank, een jachtvliegtuig, een aanvalsvliegtuig voor één persoon. Je kunt ook een conventionele bom zien die 6.800 kg weegt. Amerikaanse troepen hadden deze wapens tussen 1945 en 1975 tegen de Vietnamezen gebruikt.
Cholon van Ho Chi Minh-stad is de grootste Chinatown van Vietnam met wortels uit 1778; het is ook een plaats van groot historisch en cultureel belang. Chinese minderheden verborgen zich hier voor de Tay Son en moesten vervolgens het gebied na de aanval twee keer herbouwen, waarvan naar schatting 70% zou zijn gestorven terwijl ze probeerden te ontsnappen op boten. Degenen die overleefden vestigden zich en begonnen een verscheidenheid aan Chinese producten te verkopen.

Ben Thanh-markt in District 1 van Ho Chi Minh-stad is een geweldige plek om lokaal handwerk, merkartikelen, Vietnamese kunst en andere souvenirs te kopen. Hier vindt u kraampjes op de markt waar u de Vietnamese Vietnamese keuken in Hawker-stijl kunt proeven of gewoon kunt afkoelen met een koud drankje wanneer het onderhandelen te veel wordt. De markt is groot, soms moeilijk te navigeren en zeker het beste te vermijden tijdens het heetste deel van de dag, maar toch is het zeker de moeite waard om te bekijken. Wanneer de nacht valt, openen restaurants rond de omtrek van de markt hun deuren en creëren een levendig straatbeeld dat de lucht vult met de geuren van wokgebakken noedels, gegrilde vis en vlees. Ben Thanh is een van de oudste bezienswaardigheden van Saigon en biedt een geweldige sfeer die absoluut authentiek Vietnamees is.

Very good private tour. We saw all the typical sites including the War Rembrants Museum.Palace, Opera House, Post Office and Ben Thanh market. Hillbilly Jack, our guide, was excellent in working with our limitations and modifying the tour as we requested. He is a personable, friendly and knowledgeable young man who gave us a lot of information on his country. He, and our driver, assisted in moving my husband's wheelchair in and out of the immaculate SUV that was our transport. Lunch was included and it was acceptable. We also had the opportunity to stop for Highlands coffee at a local café but we declined due to time constraints. Overall a great tour, I highly recommend the tour and, especially, Hillbilly Jack, our guide.

From start to finish the experience was exceptional. Hillbilly Jack, our tour guide, made sure we knew exactly where to meet him and his driver. We were provided with interesting facts about Vietnam and were free to ask questions etc. We felt safe and comfortable in our taxi, which was spacious and air conditioned. The journey from port to Saigon took approximately 2 hrs but we were entertained all the time by Hillbilly Jack who had acquired his English-American twang from watching movies. Lunch was provided and was fantastic. All in all we couldn't have asked for more and would highly recommend.

Outstanding tour! Our guide, Loi, was knowledgeable, flexible, and has a wonderful personality and sense of humor. We had a fabulous time with Hillbilly Jack. Very knowledgeable. Gave us great narration on the two hour drive to Ho Chi Minh City. Very accommodating to our requests. Took great photos for our group. Lots to see and do. The included lunch was delicious. Duc the driver was also amazing. In a place where the traffic is next level, he drove us around all day and we felt safe.
