Bezoek de oude binnenstad van Takuapa en bekijk gebouwen in oude stijl, kleine coffeeshops en de beroemde tinmijnen. Deze historische en culturele tour verkent het oude centrum van Takuapa, voorheen bekend als 'Takola'. Gelegen op ongeveer 32 km ten noorden van Khao Lak. De prachtige Chinees-Portugese architectuur en de rijkdom van de gemeenschap danken hun oorsprong aan de tinmijnindustrie, een belangrijk tijdperk in de stad, en in feite de geschiedenis van de stad. Ontdek de oude stadsstraten met prachtige voorbeelden van Chinees-Portugese architectuur. We bezoeken Takuapa Market voordat we naar Nam Kem Cultural Centre gaan, een museum gerund door de lokale bevolking en interessant gemaakt van klei. Ten slotte bezoeken we het Tsunami Memorial Park, een rustige en vredige plek voor bezinning en herinnering.

Een populair dessert in het Takua Pa-district van Phang Nga is Taosor Cake. Het is vergelijkbaar met een Chinese mooncake, maar kleiner.
De gebouwen in Chinese en Portugese bouwstijlen zijn bewaard gebleven. Bezoekers kunnen wandelen en de manier van leven zien van de mensen in de oude stad Takuapa.
Bezoek het International Tsunami Museum, gewijd aan het tonen en bewaren van het tragische verhaal van de Tsunami op tweede kerstdag 2004 die het gebied verwoestte en voor volgende generaties bewaart. Duizenden levens gingen verloren, bedrijven werden geruïneerd en een groot deel van de kustlijn liep verschrikkelijke schade op. Het museum documenteert de tijdlijn van gebeurtenissen, evenals de periode na de ramp, inclusief het lopende wederopbouwproces. Met informatiepanelen en exposities vertelt het museum op eenvoudige wijze een wanhopig droevig verhaal.

The places of interest on the tour were great. The guide was friendly and took photos and all. Guide needs to know more about the places she took us to. Not very knowledgeable. The lunch provided in a local cafe was of a very poor quality some of the items on the menu we requested for were not available. I have the photos to prove that. I let the guide know that this was the worst tour lunch, we have had and I have travelled and done tours a lot before. Please do not let the name of Viator be tarnished because of a shoddy tour operator.I am ready to share my experience with a representative from Viator. On a bright note I had left a parcel with some ginger tea and a few items bought from the Tsuname museum were returned to my hotel by them the next day in the evening.
Quite expensive - it said a whole day trip, it only took 3 h, in the description it said 6 h, so we were a bit underwhelmed. Our driver was nice and everything but there was a bit of a language barrier, we thought he mostly remained a driver - not a tour guide. Though we liked that we had a lot of free time when watching, so if you’re tending to be introverted this would be the perfect choice (not sarcastically)

It is a private tour - just the two of us in a car. Our guide Moo was extremely helpful friendly and a careful and goog driver. His personal experience of the 2004 tsunami was an added bonus

Great tour with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Wonderful way to spend a rainy day in Khao Lake. The lunch that was provided was amazing from Happy Beach. The old town was very quaint with colourful buildings and the history was interesting to hear. Went to a couple of temples and the guide explantion of the history was very informative. I would highly recommend this tour.

The guide was not a guide. The company sent a person to accompany us on the walk: "you can go here, wherever you want" the "guide" told us. I asked her about the tsunami when I went to the Memorial - "I don't know" was the answer. The tour lasted 3 hours, not 6 as specified in the description. Don't get me wrong- the driver and the young lady who was the guide were very kind, nice.

My husband and I were transported in an air conditioned car. Having a driver and guide made the day very easy and informative. We were taken to very clean eating places that provided delicious food and iced Thai coffee and given ice cold bottled water regularly. This tour allowed us to learn about daily life, religion and culture in this very beautiful area of Thailand. We would thoroughly recommend this tour.
