Neem een stap terug in de tijd met deze fascinerende tour door de historische stad Malakka. Malakka stad is een UNESCO World Heritage site. Malakka werd gesticht in 1400 en was ooit een van de grootste handelshavens in Zuidoost-Azië. Met sterke Portugese, Nederlandse en Britse invloeden blijft Malakka nu achter met een rijk erfgoed en een unieke mix van bouwstijlen. Bezoek de straat van Harmony waar u de oudste Chinese tempel en hindoetempel in Maleisië kunt bekijken. Wandel door de ruïnes van St Paul’s Church waar St Francis Xavier ooit begraven lag. River Cruise vanaf Taman Rempah Jetty, de cruise stopt bij Flor DE La Mar Jetty waar de cruise eindigt. (Bloem van de Zee) is een replica van het origineel dat verloren ging voor de kust van Sumatra en zonk in het jaar 1511. gebouwd in 1502 in Lissabon en een van de mooiste schip van die tijd. Malakka is anders dan iets anders en u zult een bezoek aan deze geweldige, historische stad niet willen missen.

Volgens de Maleisische geschiedenis resulteerde het huwelijk van de sultan met de dochter van de keizer in een dramatische toestroom van Chinese kolonisten, want toen de prinses arriveerde, bracht ze een groot gevolg mee dat 500 dienstmaagden omvatte. De Ming Bride vestigde zich samen met haar enorme entourage in Bukit China en de heuvel is sindsdien een door China gedomineerd gebied.
Gebouwd tussen 1660 en 1700, heldere terracotta-rode koloniale Nederlandse gebouwen met louvre ramen en dikke deuren met smeedijzeren scharnieren. De binnenkant van het Stadthuys is prachtig met witte, monumentale trappen en hoge ramen. Het ziet eruit als een typisch 17e-eeuws Nederlands gemeentelijk gebouw.
De buitenkant is grotendeels ruïnes en lijkt op Portugese architectuur. Op de heuveltop is een klein verhard pad uitgesneden dat bezoekers naar de kerkruïnes leidt. De kerk is gewijd aan Sint-Paulus de Apostel en je zult zijn standbeeld in wit geschilderd zien.
Christ Church werd gebouwd in 1753 om een eeuw Nederlandse bezetting te vieren. Exterieur is direct herkenbaar baksteenrood gebouw met een enorm wit kruis aan de bovenkant. Het interieur van de kathedraal heeft 200 jaar oude handgemaakte kerkbanken, decoratieve bovenlichten en plagen die Nederlandse soldaten en de lokale bevolking eren. Toen de Britten Malakka overnamen, voegden ze een weerhaan en bel toe aan de Christ Church en veranderden deze van een protestantse kerk in een anglicaanse kerk.
St. Peter's Church is de oudste operationele katholieke kerk in Maleisië. Het werd gebouwd in 1710 op grond geschonken door de Nederlander Maryber Franz Amboer. Het oudste item in de kerk is de bel, vervaardigd in Goa in 1908.
De oudste boeddhistische plaats van aanbidding in het land, gebouwd in 1646 en staat bekend als de 'Merciful Cloud Temple'. De tempel is opgedragen aan Kuan Yin, de godin van de barmhartigheid. Een zwart, goud en rood gekleed beeld van de godin staat in de centrale gebedsruimte.
In het begin van de jaren dertig stond de Britse resident, op verzoek van een Franse missionaris, toe een vissersdorp van houten hutten te stichten op een moerassig gebied naast de zee. Het heette oorspronkelijk St. John's Village en werd een bastion voor mensen met Portugese afkomst om hun religie, taal, cultuur en tradities te behouden. Tegenwoordig bestaat de nederzetting, ook wel Mini Lissabon genoemd, uit straten met namen als D'Alberquerque, Sequera Eredia, D'Aranjo en Texeira.

We really enjoyed the day to Malacca because the Tour Guide Ben was very knowledgeable and kindness. We did see a lot historical buildings. Especially the River cruise was wonderful. The lunch was fantastic!

It was a great day out of busy KL. Nice drive to and from with a friendly driver. We went by car with only 4 passengers so it was a nice day. Worth having a look at this historical city.

<p>We loved our tour to Melaka. Viator was easy to book and e-vouchers makes the entire process easy. Also appreciate the courtesy hotel pickup n drop off. <br/> Stephen our tour guide was marvellous, an articulate storyteller. He was there to assist and without being intrusive.</p>
<p>This Malacca tour would have been an ideal one with an eager beaver for a tour guide with the name Gunar so with the driver also named gunar. we were picked up from our hotel at 8:45am as appointed for a 930 am departure for Malacca. there were 4 passengers then we went to pick up the rest from other hotels on the way to MATIC. we waited until 9:45am before we were told to be patient and wait for another couple who were late. the bus finally left MATIC at 10:15am to pick up 2 more passengers from the same hotel we stayed, where we were picked up at 8:45am. there are suppose to be 6 pax from our hotel but the pick up team never bothered to look for the 2 more passengers who were still taking their breakfast that caused the more than an hour delay by going back to pick them up at the hotel so the tour group can proceed to Malacca. We arrived in Malacca past 12 noon and we were rushed from one place to another to make up for the lost time. We finally had lunch at a local Chinese restaurant at past 2pm. after lunch, we were left at Jonker walk to take a stroll. then we went back to KL. while I was getting off the bus, the driver suddenly stepped on the bus accelarator that caused me to almost fell out of the bus. It's a good thing that my son as always extended his hands to help me descend from the bus and caught me. the tour guide nor the driver did not even bother to ask if i was ok but they just left. The pick up bus was nice but the tour bus used to go to Malacca was rickety and can hear all the engine noise instead of the tour guide's voice as we travelled and the seats are not comfortable. The tour guide forgot to mention the important informations about the places we went to it's a good thing, our tour guide/driver to Putrajaya the day before gave us a very good historical insights about Malacca maybe due to the complaints of the other passengers who were hungry and kept on buying food as the tour guide was chattering. The worst was I almost fell from the bus as I was getting off due to recklessness of the driver and they even saw i was using a walking stick that day due to a bad back. i hope viator will not engage the services of said tour company with rude employees and have a policy regarding late passengers.</p>

<p>Lovely trip wasted by the fact the guide would only allow us to visit the sites that he thought we should visit. He was not pleased when we asked to stop at an antiques stall and hurried us along to the next shop where he could buy the produce that he thought we should buy. If you advertise an English guide provide one! Not someone who thinks they speak English. We found ourselves apologising to other travellers when they asked us to translate what he was saying!</p>
<p>Big dissapointment for us. Pick up 20 min late, after 2 hours travelling from KL we expected much more. Most of the time in the bus, just short stops no real chance to explore and no walking on jonker street despite it was written in itinerary. Unfortunately wasting of day.</p>
<p>The place is worth the trip! But the guide was always in a hurry. The bus trip and lunch was longer than the actual trip to the place.</p>
<p>A little disorganized during departure. We were picked up more than an hour before departure. We departed 20minutes late. We visited lots of interesting sites. No time to linger at any spot. Tour guide was attentative. Answered all questions. Was not taken to traditonal Malacca restaurant.</p>
<p>A great day out of the hustle and bustle of KL taking in some of the history of Malaysia and its people.</p>
