Historische wandeltocht door Charlottetown
Beschrijving
Omdat ik mijn hele leven een eilandbewoner ben en mijn familie hier diep geworteld is, leer je niet alleen over de geschiedenis en geografie van Charlottetown en het eiland terwijl we door de historische straten lopen, maar hoor je ook veel persoonlijke anekdotes. Sommige hiervan gaan over de geschiedenis van de Kelly-familie, terwijl andere meer persoonlijk zullen zijn. Of je nu van hier of van ver komt, ik denk dat je zult vertrekken met een diepere waardering voor de plek die ik thuis noem.

Hoor over dit zeer belangrijke historische gebouw dat een rol speelde bij de vorming van Canada als een natie. Momenteel wordt het gerenoveerd, maar hopelijk zal het tegen de zomer van 2023 weer open zijn voor het publiek
Hoor de geschiedenis van dit centrum en bezoek binnen om de vele dingen te zien die dit culturele centrum te bieden heeft.

Wandel door deze mooie groene ruimte op weg naar de Allerzielenkapel
Bezoek de inspirerende "Allerzielenkapel" die aan de kerk is bevestigd. Dit is een nationaal historisch zicht. Hoor hoe de gebroeders Harris een belangrijke rol speelden bij het ontwerp en het interieur van deze kapel
Bij de ingang van het park bezoeken we het Governor's House, de thuisbasis van de luitenant-generaal van PEI. We stoppen bij de waterkant om de geschiedenis van de haven van Charlottetown te horen
We eindigen de tour waar we begonnen. Op weg tussen Victoria Park en onze eindbestemming nemen we een korte pauze op Pownal Square en vertel ik je over mijn 15 minuten roem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Charlottetown. Our guide Jamie was outstanding. He is a life long resident and enjoys sharing his hometown with visitors. Jamie made the tour both fun and informative. Being the only ones on the tour he tailored it to us and we were able to ask many questions.
Jamie was a great guide who has lived on the island his whole life. Gives many interesting historical and current facts in an entertaining way. Helped make our PEI visit enjoyable!

Jamie is an excellent tour escort with a great depth of knowledge. As a well-spoken, educated local going back several generations, he shared his depth of information, insight and understanding. The tour of the central historic district was well paced and easy to manage. Having asked what our lans were for the balance of our 6 day stay, he put his information into context with references to what we would see the following day when we went on a drive tour outside of Charlottetown. This made the two tours/days super-interesting. I completely recommend this tour and Jamie to others for an outstanding insight into historic Charlottetown.

Very interesting walking tour of the city of Charlottetown, discovering its various historical monuments. The tour lasts about 2 hours. The guide passionately shares historical facts and anecdotes about the city. Nevertheless, it is a shame not to have the time to visit the churches or historical houses when they are accessible to the public. An excellent way to discover Charlottetown. I recommend it without hesitation!
