Er is geen betere manier om de schoonheid en wonderen van Barbados te verkennen dan met een wandeltocht door de stad Bridgetown, die op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat en een van de weinige werelderfgoedlocaties in het Caribisch gebied is. Bridgetown Barbados zit vol met interessante geschiedenis die teruggaat tot 400 jaar, de cultuur, mensen, eten en geweldige bezienswaardigheden. Een korte geschiedenis van Pelican Island was een klein onbewoond eiland dat ooit bestond voor de westkust van Bridgetown en Fontabelle. Zoek uit wat er met het eiland gebeurt !!!. Pelican Craft Centre herdenkt het eiland met meer dan 30 winkels, lokaal gemaakte sieraden, kleding, lederwaren, sigarenfabriek, lokaal gemaakte kristalstukken, lokale gerechten en nog veel meer
Wandel over de straat naar de Bridgetown Fish Market. en zie de vangst van de dag, en de visverkopers die vis uitbenen, maak foto's van de op een na oudste vismarkt in Barbados
Barbados heeft 's werelds meest uitgebreide collectie van 400 Engelse ijzeren kanonnen uit de 17e en 18e eeuw. Barbados was een basis van grote betekenis voor het Britse leger dat in de 18e eeuw op het eiland was gestationeerd om hun eilandenkolonies te beschermen. De National Armory bevat het grootste deel van de collectie, hoewel andere overal op het eiland te vinden zijn. Bekijk kanonnen bij St. James Forte.
De brede wandeling Ten westen van Chamberlain Bridge ligt de Broad Walk, een houten promenade die langs de waterkant loopt en een fantastisch uitzicht biedt op de UNESCO-stad Bridgetown.
De onafhankelijkheidsboog Bridgetown Versierd met symbolen van het erfgoed van Barbados, zoals de vliegende vissen en pelikaan, samen met hun nationale bloem, is de boog een symbool van de onafhankelijkheid van Bajan en een nieuw begin. Op de top van de boog staat het wapen van het eiland met het nationale axioma 'Pride and Industry', terwijl op de basis van de boog de National Pledge staat
Onafhankelijkheidsplein met standbeeld van de geachte Errol Walton Barrow Het recreatieplein is een recente toevoeging en strekt zich uit over een oppervlakte van ongeveer 50.000 vierkante meter en beschikt over een bronzen standbeeld van 9 meter hoog van de Rt Hon Errol Walton Barrow, bekend als de vader van de onafhankelijkheid van Barbados
Het Blackman Screw Dock, gebouwd in de 19e eeuw, is het enige dat ter wereld bestaat. Reizigers krijgen een glimp van het schroefdok terwijl we over de promenade slenteren.

I took this tour with Karen and my, oh my, was it a treat! The sights and sounds of Barbados felt like being in a different world. Karen provided so much historical context as we toured all of Bridgetown. It was a really immersive experience and that highly recommend!

It was supposed to be a history tour and it turned into a shopping tour. Tour guide like he was friendly, but it was not the tour we wanted.

Karen was amazingly smart and knowledgeable where Barbados history , etc is concerned!!!! There's nothing she didn't know. She was very friendly and warm..assisted us when we needed to grab a cab after the tour. She was very patient, courteous and kind. She actually gave us water for our tour. We did the historic walking tour with Karen. Karen was an amazing guide who looked after us throughout the tour, making sure we were comfortable and answering all our questions. Karen was very knowledgeable and was able to share the fascinating history of Bridgetown. There is a lot of history in the town that you could miss without an expert to point it out, such as the bricks in the carpark which arrived as ship ballast 100’s of years ago. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of Bridgetown
