De Atoombomkoepel is een symbool van vrede voor de stad Hiroshima. Oorspronkelijk gebruikt als prefectuurzaal, werd de koepel tijdens de ontploffing opgeblazen, waarbij iedereen binnenin omkwam. De structuur van de koepel bleef echter bestaan en wordt sindsdien gebruikt als een symbool van de wens van het volk voor vrede, en werd in 1996 aangewezen als UNESCO-werelderfgoed. Je gids biedt je geschiedenis en uitleg, terwijl je kunt nadenken over de tragedie die zich heeft voorgedaan.
Het Peace Memorial Park, gelegen naast de Dome, was ooit een druk commercieel centrum. Tegenwoordig is het een rustige groene ruimte, gewijd aan het herdenken van degenen die we verloren hebben en aan onze hoop op een vreedzamere toekomst. De gids zal u helpen het park te doorkruisen en u desgewenst geschiedenis en uitleg geven.
Het Memorial Museum zal een sombere ervaring zijn, waar je bezittingen zult zien die zijn achtergelaten door de slachtoffers van het bombardement, evenals hartverscheurende getuigenissen van de overlevenden. Bekijk foto's van de enorme verwoestingen destijds en leer meer over het militaire aspect van de aanval. De gids doet een stapje terug en laat je de exposities op je eigen manier verwerken.
Itsukushima staat wereldwijd bekend om zijn iconische zwevende toriipoort en is het symbool van het eiland Miyajima. Dit is een prachtige, rustige plek waar u kunt zonnebaden terwijl u geniet van het uitzicht op zee. De rondzwervende herten die overal ronddwalen, maken dit eiland ook vrij uniek. Nadat je de tori-poort hebt bekeken, ga je verder naar het Itsukushima-heiligdom. Het heiligdom bestaat uit een gebedsruimte, een grote zaal en een noh-theaterpodium, die met elkaar zijn verbonden door promenades en worden ondersteund door pilaren boven de zee.
De Daiganji-tempel is opgedragen aan Benzaiten, de godin van welsprekendheid, muziek, wijsheid en rijkdom, en staat bekend als een van de drie beroemdste Benzaiten-tempels in Japan.
Deze oude winkelstraat is gevuld met herten en vele winkels, restaurants en cafés. Dwaal in je eigen tempo, stop voor een hapje of om wat souvenirs te kopen.

Aki is an amazing tour guide! We've had several tours in Japan within the past week, and hers was outstanding! Her knowledge of the tiniest details of the trip, such as which ferry arrives closest to the Torii Gate, shows her expertise. She has the best recommendations for street food, and knows the best vantage point for pictures. There were several points during the day when she went above and beyond for a family member who was struggling with mobility, to the point where she got a wheelchair from the museum and proceeded to push them up and down hills and around the museum and the park for the rest of the day. We can't say enough wonderful things about Aki. If we could give her 10 stars, we would!

We booked a private tour for the two of us, and it was quite useless. The guide hardly spoke to us. During transfers, he would sit separately from us and provided very little information unless we specifically asked questions all the time. The only time he really joined us was during the lunch break, where he let us pay for his meal without us offering to do so. We were also repeatedly asked to take photos for his agency. It was absolutely not worth the $360 we paid.

We had a wonderful experience with Kahori as our guide in Miyajima Island and Hiroshima. She was incredibly kind, patient, and thoughtful throughout the entire tour, and made sure everything ran smoothly and comfortably for us. Kahori was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting stories and insights about everything we visited. On Miyajima Island, we explored the beautiful shrine and saw the impressive Buddha statues, which was truly special. In Hiroshima, she guided us through the Peace Park, showed us the remaining historic buildings, and accompanied us through the museum, which was very moving and deeply impressive. Her explanations made the visit even more meaningful. Overall, Kahori is a fantastic guide — warm, professional, and very informative. We had a great day with our guide Koji who showed us around Hiroshima and Miyajima island. We had a great lunch and Koji showed us all his favourite spots. Would recommend getting to the Hiroshima peace museum early as it was unfortunately very busy and we didn’t get to spend as much time as we would have liked there (no fault of Koji who tried to give us as much time as possible.) Would definitely recommend.
