La Leona-watervalwandeling Een intieme privétour langs de meest buiten de gebaande paden gelegen route naar de La Leona-waterval. De dag bestaat uit een gematigde wandeling van 2 uur langs het blauwe water van Rio Blanco, diep in de canyons van de Rincon de la Vieja-vulkaan, waar je onderweg met je lokale gids wilde dieren zult spotten. Je wordt langs het schaduwrijke pad geleid dat stroomopwaarts gaat, stopt bij 5 verschillende poelen en loopt door een stenen kloof, grotten en kleine watervallen totdat je de ingang van de kloof bereikt die naar de La Leona-waterval leidt. Hier stop je je spullen in een drybag om in het water te springen en een klein stukje naar de waterval te zwemmen. De waterval heeft een stenen strand ervoor waar je foto's kunt maken. Er is ook een mooi zwembad om rond te spetteren. Professionele lokale gids en lunch in Costa Ricaanse stijl inbegrepen Belangrijk: De paden hebben veel rotsen en wortels. Er zijn secties waarin wordt gezwommen en de rivier wordt overgestoken. Reddingsvesten zijn aanwezig.

Bij de canyon stop je je spullen in een droge zak en zwem je vervolgens een klein stukje naar de waterval. Geniet van het stenen strand, maak foto's en ontspan in het zwembad voor de lunch. Aanbevolen voor kinderen vanaf 4 jaar. Ouders moeten hun discretie gebruiken op basis van de capaciteiten en het comfortniveau van hun kind. Deze tour is voor wandelaars zonder actuele lichamelijke verwondingen of gezondheidsproblemen. Het pad heeft veel rotsen en wortels, met gedeeltes waarin gezwommen en rivieroversteken worden. We raden deze tour niet aan voor iedereen die zich ongemakkelijk voelt in het water. Zwemvesten zijn aanwezig.

The tour was great, we booked the tour arriving on our own and Magda greeted us, always with a smile, who accompanied us to the starting point and introduced us to Alejandro, our guide. The path to the waterfall is fascinating, especially with Alejandro, who is a very kind, polite guy with exceptional knowledge of his work. He made sure at every moment that my partner and I were okay, he kept explaining every detail to us, showing us things along the way and taking spectacular photos. Upon arriving at the waterfall, every part of the journey is worth it, which is not heavy at all. Alejandro is the clear example of someone who LOVES HIS JOB! At the end, the lunch was delicious, order your casado with fajitas. Finally, Magda accompanied us to the starting point, always kind, smiling, and warm, thanks to both of you, Pura vida!
Our family hike with our guide Alejandro was the BEST! We opted for self drive & the team made it easy to find them at the pick up spot. We had an incredible time thanks to Alejandro’s experience and knowledge of the waterfall and hiking paths as well as his sense of humor and Pura Vida vibes. Magda was awesome as well and had an incredible lunch waiting for us afterward. Showers to change in are nearby and super clean too. TY Alejandro & Magda!

We really enjoyed our tour with Ro as our guide. Magda was so nice too and the lunch after that she set up was delicious and fun and a good value. The actual tour with Ro was incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable and really seems to enjoy being in the forest. He showed us many plants and animals that we would have walked right by and taught us a lot. He is also an experienced canyoner. He was patient and genuine and fun to be around. This tour was a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Thank you Ro and Magda!

This was a wonderful experience. Note all the things they ask for you can leave on your car or at the starting point. We took it with us and would have loved if someone told us we could have left it. It was alot to carry. The views were beautiful, our guide Alejandro was great. The food was delicious too and the juice was so refreshing. We are so happy we made the 2.5 hr drive for this experience

Meet up spot was easy to find. We were the only two people going at our time. Magda met us there, where we signed waivers and loaded into a truck that drove to the start of the tour. If given the choice, take their truck, it is a rough road. Alejandro was our guide. Speaks English fluently. Took many pictures and videos of us and shared some fun facts, such as the killer tree and banging on the hollow tree. Hike was intermediate difficulty. Alejandro offered a helping hand at slippery spots. River crossings are assisted by a rope. Rock climbs are assisted by short ladders. I wore tennis shoes and my girlfriend wore water shoes; we were both comfortable. The waterfall at the end was a great payoff. We were the only ones there and swam freely around the waterfall. The water was a comfortable temperature and neither of us were cold. The provided lunch offered a choice of meat (pork, beef, or fish) and fried plantain chips, rice, black beans, small salad, and fresh mango juice from the nearby mango trees (which was delicious!). I didn't get any bug bites, but my girlfriend got a few. Would recommend some bug spray beforehand. The hike itself is shaded, so no need for sunblock. Overall, was a very fun experience, and would highly recommend for anybody looking for a more intimate waterfall tour where you can get right up in the waterfall.

Last minute adventure we signed up the day before and lucky for us, we had Jason as our guide and we had all his attention as we were the only 2 people he had for the day! This was our favorite hike we have ever done! We were in great hands with Jorge G. as our driver. He shared lots of info and was so friendly. Jason was our hike guide and he was so nice and funny. We had a great time and highly recommend doing this excursion!!
