Het Nationaal Park Plitvicemeren is een bepaald geologisch en hydrogeologisch karstfenomeen. Het Plitvicemerencomplex werd op 8 april 1949 tot nationaal park uitgeroepen. Het is het grootste, oudste en meest bezochte Kroatische nationale park. Het vertegenwoordigt een bebost berggebied met 16 meren van verschillende grootte, gevuld met kristalhelder water. Meren krijgen water van talloze beken en stroompjes en zijn met elkaar verbonden door watervallen en watervallen. Zitbarrières, die plaatsvonden over een periode van tienduizend jaar.

De Plitvicemeren is het oudste en grootste nationale park van de Republiek Kroatië. Het proces van tufsteenvorming, dat resulteert in de bouw van de tufsteen, of travertijn, barrières en resulteerde in de oprichting van de meren, is de buitengewone universele waarde waarvoor de Plitvicemeren op 26 oktober 1979 internationaal werden erkend met hun inscriptie op de UNESCO Werelderfgoedlijst. In 1997 werden de grenzen van het nationale park verlegd en tegenwoordig beslaat het een gebied van iets minder dan 300 km2. Het park is voornamelijk bedekt met bosvegetatie

Very smooth experience, due to his excellent communication prior, and detailed explanation to make sure we knew where to walk and suitably prepared. Also great that he checked how we were going on our hike and making sure we were going the right direction. Very polite and professional. We had an amazing time and the national park was stunning! William picked us up right in front of the cruise port on time (early even) in a nice air conditioned car. He took us to the Plitvice Lakes and once arrived he explained what paths to take and approximate time it would take. He was then waiting for us as soon as we were ready to head back out. Overall, good conversation and good experience!
