Nadat u uw deskundige gids heeft ontmoet, omzeilt uw kleine groep de algemene toegangslijn om de prachtige collecties van het museum te betreden. Je begint je spoedcursus door meer te leren over de salons van Parijs in de 19e eeuw, die de 'kwaliteit' van het werk van een kunstenaar bepaalden. Als je eenmaal een sterke basis hebt in wat de elite zocht in de kunst, leer je over een van de eerste rebellen in het museum, Manet. Ga vervolgens met je gids naar boven om de impressionistische collectie te verkennen, met kunstwerken van kunstenaars als Monet, Renoir, Degas, Valadon en Lautrec. Zie hoe deze artiesten zich van elkaar voedden; terwijl ze destijds buitenstaanders en onverlaten waren van de elite kunstscene. Ten slotte leer je over het tragische leven van Van Gogh door een analyse van zijn beroemdste schilderijen. Om je de kans te geven om op eigen gelegenheid meer van het museum te verkennen, eindig je in de post-impressionistische vleugel, waar je meer kunt verkennen of het museum kunt verlaten.

Van Gogh’s visions and tears … Monet’s shenanigans … A defiant gaze from a courtesan-muse … Stuffy gatekeepers and how the Impressionists beat them at their own game … how a failed train station became a top art museum .. My partner and I took Adam’s excellent tours of the Louvre and d’Orsay, and we came away knowing so much about the art, how it fit into its time and society, and how the people who made it were inspired, funded, loved, and hated.
