Verbazingwekkende sfeer en energie, transformeert het leven van Cambodja jeugd, Phare Circus is meer dan entertainment. Het is een sociale onderneming die een non-profitschool ondersteunt waar Cambodjaanse jongeren hun leven veranderen.

Het meest unieke, authentieke avondentertainment van Siem Reap. Phare-artiesten zijn meer dan alleen een circus, maar gebruiken theater, muziek, dans en moderne circuskunsten om uniek Cambodjaanse verhalen te vertellen; historisch, folk en modern. De jonge circusartiesten zullen je verbazen met hun energie, emotie, enthousiasme en talent. Phare-artiesten zijn studenten en afgestudeerden van het beroepsopleidingscentrum van Phare Ponleu Selpak (www.phareps.org) in Battambang. De vereniging werd in 1994 gevormd door 9 jonge mannen die na het Khmer Rouge-regime uit een vluchtelingenkamp thuiskwamen. Ze werden in die tijd enorm geholpen door een tekenleraar die tekenlessen als therapie gebruikte en wilde deze nieuwe vaardigheid delen onder de arme, sociaal achtergestelde en probleemjongeren in Battambang. Ze richtten een kunstacademie op en openbare scholen volgden om gratis onderwijs aan te bieden. Een muziekschool en een theaterschool waren de volgende en uiteindelijk, voor de kinderen die meer wilden, de circusschool. Vandaag bezoeken dagelijks meer dan 1.200 leerlingen de openbare school en 500 bezoeken de alternatieve scholen. Phare Ponleu Selpak heeft ook uitgebreide outreach-programma's die proberen te helpen met de problemen die in hun eigen verhalen naar voren komen. Phare Het Cambodjaanse Circus biedt deze studenten en afgestudeerden ergens hun vaardigheden aan en een plek om een fatsoenlijk loon te verdienen. Geld dat hen uit de armoede haalt en hen zelfrespect en vrijheid geeft.

A wonderful show A fantastic human adventure We had a great evening Extraordinary acrobats
Don't waste your money. For $38.00 instead take your family home for a nice dinner for 4 people. The show is not a real circus. Horrible acrobats. Most of the short one hour show you see them crowning around. There is only one acrobat doing all the acts. So lame. This is for people who never seen real acrobats from China and Russia. Not entertaining at sll. Left disappointed. Don't go .waste of money.

This was the fastest hour of my life. The circus show was so entertaining that the time flew by. The entire thing was so well done including the welcome from the performers with drums, jugglers and cheering. The food available pre-show, and the entertainment before the show is top notch and the food is inexpensive. Every seat in the big top is a good one and the quality of the show is fantastic. The best part is that seeing the show supports the mission of this program which is to give skills to underprivileged youth in order for them to have a better quality of life. It is win-win and feel good all the way around.

Astounding! Heading in we just assumed that it was just another circus performance. But tonight’s performance blew our mind, from start to finish it was so captivating left us on edge most of the show, it was just incredibly breathtaking. It educated us on how much rice is part of the Cambodian culture, & how Cambodian people eat live & breathe rice & community. We’re truly thankful that we got to experience the show. It’s great to see that although born into difficult circumstances the circus provides access to people to learn about different art forms free of cost! A great initiative!
