Het zal ons een genoegen zijn u te verwelkomen op Rhodos! Voorafgaand aan uw cruise kunt u uw eigen voertuig boeken om het eiland in uw eigen tempo te verkennen. Onze chauffeur kan bij aankomst op u wachten in de haven, net buiten uw cruiseschip om u op het eiland te verwelkomen. Ontdek de hoogtepunten van Rhodos met een ontspannen tijd op een van de vele prachtige stranden die Rhodos te bieden heeft of een bezoek aan een traditionele Griekse taverne weg van de drukte. We kunnen u ook een taverne in de buurt van de zee aanbevelen, zodat u zowel een fantastische lunch als een strandtijd kunt combineren. Al onze chauffeurs zijn native en ze kunnen je de beste plaatsen aanbevelen om te bezoeken. Uiteraard kunnen we 100% tijdige terugkeer naar het schip garanderen! We beginnen onze tour met een rit rond de muren van de oude binnenstad van Rhodos - de grootste bewoonde middeleeuwse stad van Europa. Het werd in 1300 gebouwd door de ridders van de orde van St. John. De middeleeuwse stad Rhodos staat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. Als je wilt, kunnen we de duur van de tour met 1 uur verlengen en je kunt ook wat vrije tijd hebben om door de oude stad te gaan en deze op eigen gelegenheid te verkennen.
De haven van Mandraki bevindt zich in het nieuwe deel van de stad waar u een aantal zeer indrukwekkende monumentale gebouwen ziet die door de Italianen zijn gebouwd. Er wordt geloofd dat hier bij de haveningang het grote standbeeld van de Kolos van Rhodos stond - een van de zeven wonderen van de Oude Wereld. We stoppen voor foto's van het gebied.
De kerk van de Annunciatie op Rhodos is de grootste orthodoxe kerk in de stad met zeer mooie handgemaakte schilderijen aan de muren en spectaculaire kroonluchters.
Zodra we Monthe Smith Hill bereiken, geniet je van een uitzonderlijk panoramisch uitzicht op de stad en de kust, en bezoek je ook de ruïnes van de tempel van Apollo, het indrukwekkende oude stadion in de open lucht en het amfitheater.
Op verzoek kunnen we een stop maken in een aardewerkfabriek - waar u kunt zien hoe mooi traditioneel keramiek wordt gemaakt.
Kort voordat we het prachtige traditionele dorp Lindos bereiken, zal uw chauffeur u tegenhouden op een plek voor een fantastisch panoramisch uitzicht op het dorp, samen met zijn Acropolis op de top. Daarna zullen we je achterlaten bij de hoofdingang van het dorp. Je hebt er minstens anderhalf uur om het te verkennen en bezoekt natuurlijk de beroemde Akropolis. De chauffeur wacht op u op de exacte plaats waar hij u heeft achtergelaten.
De Acropolis in Lindos is de op een na populairste Acropolis in Griekenland na het Parthenon in Athene. Het werd gebouwd op een steile rots op 116 meter hoogte met uitzicht op de Blauwe Zee en het dorp Lindos beneden. De Akropolis wordt gedomineerd door de enorme tempel van Athena Lindia, daterend uit de 4e eeuw en bereikte zijn definitieve vorm in ongeveer 300 voor Christus.
Een stop bij de pittoreske St. Paul's Bay is ook inbegrepen. Er wordt beweerd dat Paulus hier in het jaar 51 na Christus aankwam om het Christendom aan de Rhodianen te prediken. Daar is een klein kerkje gebouwd naar zijn naam. We zullen een stop maken voor foto's om deze verbluffende weergave vast te leggen.
We stoppen voor de lunch in een spectaculaire taverne aan zee, zodat u kunt combineren en genieten van zowel een fantastische lunch als wat strandtijd.

I always say that on cruise stops, it is much better to take a private (or small group) tour rather than one of the large coach tours offered by the cruise line. A private tour offers flexibility as well as a chance to talk to your guide, ask questions and get to know them a bit. And you will never be stuck on a bus waiting for those last two stragglers to finally show up. Don't worry about missing your "all-aboard" time. Your guide is a professional and will know that his reputation depends on getting you back to your ship on time. Our tour with Nicholas (or Nikos) from Rhodes Greece Tours is a good example. He met us at the port with a very comfortable van. Our first stop was at Mandraki Port, the ancient port that was once the site of the Colossus of Rhodes. Next up were St. Stephens Hill, Acropolis of Rhodes with its ancient stadium, followed by a drive to Lindos. Since Nikos was in a van, not a coach, he was able to drop us right there in town. Another advantage of a private tour is getting into places where a bus cannot fit. After this, he gave us a choice of places for lunch. As Nikos told us, he is a driver, not a guide, so he could not accompany us into the archaeological sites. But even still, to call him "only a driver" does him a disservice. He is a native-born and proud Rhodian, and he is very knowledgeable. He told us all about these places while we were on the road. But even still, as Nikos himself said, sometimes it also is nice simply to back and enjoy the scenery without a guide continuously droning on and on. If you are looking for a good tour of Rhodes from someone who truly knows and loves the island, then Nikos (Nicholas) from Rhodes Greece Tours is your man.

We had a great time on this tour. Our guide picked us up at our hotel and took us first to Rhodes, giving us a brief history of the sites. We drove to many different spots on the island, including a potter's studio but the best was Lindos.

This way was a great way to experience Rhodes. Our guide George was extremely insightful to the history of the island and the people. We were able to get away from the tourists and saw the heart of Rhodes. We were able to stop in several small, family businesses. With it being a private tour, it was very intimate and geared towards our requests. Without having a large bus, we were able to get at the base of the Lindos, without the long walk from the bus parking. And the lunch recommendation was amazing and become our favorite meals of our trip. We loved learning about the history, in a relaxed, setting as we saw the island. George was great, took pictures for us, spoke English very well, and a great driver. Highly recommend!!!

Favorite part was that we got to see all over the island. Lindos was beautiful, and restaurant on beach was amazing (near port). Nikos was the perfect guide, and paid attention to every detail. In afternoon, we could see smoke from the wildfires, but did not affect our tour

Amazing! Nikos was our driver. He met us at the port in a clearly marked vehicle which was clean and very comfortable (and air conditioned!). This tour was the best day of our Greece trip! He took us to places that we never would have found on our own. We saw the main sights briefly and then told him we wanted to see his favorite things on the island so that's what we did. We added on the 2 hours for beach time and it was so worth it. The tour was worth every penny!!
