A Dream Trip of a Lifetime

Majestic lions, leopards and cheetahs, lumbering elephants and snorting hippos, as well as gorgeous and fascinating giraffes, meerkats, zebras, wildebeest, oryx, warthogs, kudu, cape buffalo, water bucks and impala galore – oh my! Just when you think things cannot get better, add in many, many beautiful birds. With over 40% of the land dedicated to parkland, Botswana is a gem of a count Our three-week mobile camping safari with Walking Stick Tours was a dream trip of a lifetime with so much thanks to: • Phillimon, who planned our seamless adventure from the pans through the Kalahari Desert, to various locations in the Okavango Delta, and into Chobe National Park, booking fabulous camping spots, amazing experiences on land and waterways, and a dream team of a guide / driver, chef, and camp manager. • OT our amazing, deeply knowledgeable guide, driver and mechanic who shared his love of his country and culture with us, who was able to spot so many animals that we would have missed and knew exactly where to search for the elusive ones, transported us safely along bumpy roads, through deep sand and water, and knew his way along all roads and tracks in these vast parks. • Election our incredibly positive, welcoming, skilled chef who could work miracles over a campfire creating delicious, nutritious and filling meals and homemade breads and cakes. Being on safari for as long as we were, we also appreciated the advance planning that went into gathering supplies and setting up a refrigerator / freezer in the support vehicle. We were constantly in awe! As well, being on such a remote trip, Election’s skills as a mechanic also came in handy as he assisted OT in the maintenance of our vehicles. • Richman our amazing camp manager who did everything else needed to make our camping experience as comfortable as possible from setting up tents, eating areas and campfires to providing us with warm water for washing and our outdoor shower, and assisting Election in the outdoor kitchen and with anything mechanical. Richman had a way of noticing whenever anything needed doing and immediately attending to the needs of everyone in camp. His lovely, positive, welcoming and hard-working ways were appreciated every day. • Tebogo our lovely, knowledgeable mokoro poler and walking safari guide while in the waterways and camping on an island in the delta who introduced us to the beauty and life of the Okavango region, and shared his love of his part of the this beautiful country. We were touched by these local men who helped us explore and begin to understand the history, culture, and everyday life of beautiful Botswana. They have been the very best ambassadors for your country and for Walking Stick Tours. After three weeks together, we consider them good friends.

Easy, Maun to Victoria Falls

The chef, Election (that's his real name) was trained in culinary arts, worked in hotels prior to joining Walking Stick. That tells you what the food was like. 5 stars. Richmond the porter was on it. He swept my tent every time I went on a game drive. He was always keeping the campsite tidy. The guide was such a great guy. He was eager to show me all the animals. He made modifications based on what I wanted. I'm sorry I didn't write his name down. Essy, from beginning to end!

What a great holiday!

We had an amazing time! Our guide Moses was a brilliant guide and ensured that we had a very positive experience taking home with us memories of a huge array of animals, previously only seen in books and zoos! His knowledge of animals, birds, trees and plant life was amazing! Simon and the team looked after us really well despite the challenges they faced with punctures and supply trucks. We loved our tents and found the camp beds really comfortable and the al fresco showers and loo surprisingly easy. Having animals so close to our camp made this especially magical. The river safari in Chobe was a great end to the trip, allowing us to see many of the animals a lot closer up and from a different perspective, and the transfer from Chobe to Victoria Falls went very smoothly. If we were doing this again, we would add in one or two extra days so that we could build in more 2-night stays during the holiday (we did a 5-day trip). This would make it more relaxing allowing for an occasional afternoon siesta instead of consecutive days of long drives. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed what we did despite being very tired at the end! A wonderful holiday and one that we will definitely recommend to others. On the communication side, everything was great, but an indication of the potential travel times each day (in addition to the morning and evening jeep safaris) would have helped with our planning and to manage our expectations of time on the "road".

Exceeded all expectations. Epic safari with Walking Sticks

We had booked this safari in 2020 and due to covid pandemic we finally made it in October 2023. An eagerly awaited holiday and safari that exceeded all expectations The highlight of our trip to Southern Africa. Phillimon is the best guide and tracker you could hope to meet. We saw some amazing sights including a wild dog hunt and kill. Lions hunting, at a kill, lounging about, elephants and more elephants, hipos a plenty, cape buffalo, leopard and lots of giraffes, zebra and antelope. Seeing hyena pups at a den with the mother was another highlight. The first 2 nights was spent on the Okavango Delta and we did 3 walking safaris with an amazing guide. Watching hippos from a mokoro on the water was a dream come true. Magical African sunsets with G&T / cold beer. Dinner prepared by Chef Prince with camp fire and great wines. You couldn’t find a better safari company than Walking Sticks with Phillimon, KD, Prince, Comfort and Kealeboga. Highly recommended. Thank you Phillimon & Walking Sticks for making our dreams come true. Tam

Okavango Delta Safari

If you're looking for a guide to the delta, the best one is Walking Stick Tours. Phillimon Kamogelo was excellent in helping us to plan our trip online, a camping and driving safari. He met us at the airport, transported us, hosted our campsite, prepared excellent food, and was a magnificent guide to the bush. His ability to spot and identify wildlife was exceptional. He was a knowledgeable and cordial host.
