Ervaar de hoogtepunten van Athene, de bakermat van de democratie, in een 5 uur durende privétour ontworpen voor reizigers die de essentiële bezienswaardigheden van de stad in comfort en efficiëntie willen verkennen. Onder begeleiding van een professionele Engels sprekende chauffeur combineert deze reis oude monumenten, neoklassieke architectuur en panoramische stadsgezichten in een naadloze ervaring. Begin bij de iconische Akropolis van Athene (1u 30m), gevolgd door een rit langs de Tempel van de Olympische Zeus. Ga verder naar het Panathenaïsche Stadion (15 min), dan het Helleense Parlement op het Syntagmaplein (15 min) voor de wisseling van de wacht. Bewonder de Academie van Athene (10 min) en beklim de berg Lycabettus (15 min) voor een prachtig uitzicht. De tour eindigt bij het Akropolismuseum (1 uur), waarmee een volledige reis door het erfgoed van Athene wordt voltooid. Het beroemdste monument van Griekenland dat de trots en het kroonjuweel van Athene herbergt, het Parthenon. Opgedragen aan de oude beschermvrouw van de stad, Athena – de godin van de wijsheid, wordt het Parthenon wereldwijd beschouwd als een blijvend symbool van democratie, cultuur en beschaving. Bovenop en in de omgeving van de heilige rots bevinden zich enkele van de belangrijkste sites van het oude erfgoed van de hoofdstad, zoals: Propylaea, de ingang van de rots. De Tempel van de Vleugelloze Overwinning, die gewijd was aan de Godin Athena-Nike. Erechtheum, met als bekendste kenmerk de zuidelijke veranda, waarvan het dak, in plaats van op kolommen te steunen, op de hoofden van zes Korai-beelden rustte – de beroemde Karjatiden. Het Odeon van Herodes Atticus, een stenen Romeins theater met 5000 zitplaatsen dat in de rots is uitgehouwen en nog steeds wordt gebruikt voor muziekfestivals Het Theater van Dionysos waar de Atheners luisterden naar de onsterfelijke werken van Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides en Aristophanes.
We vervolgen onze tour door langs de Tempel van Olympische Zeus – Koning van het Griekse Pantheon te komen. De nu half geruïneerde tempel, die ook wel Olympieion wordt genoemd, bestond op zijn hoogtepunt uit 104 zuilen van 17 meter hoog en 2 meter in diameter!
Na het bezoek aan de tempel maken we een korte stop bij het Panathenaïsche Stadion, ook bekend als Kallimarmaro, een multifunctioneel stadion, waar in 1896 de eerste moderne Olympische Spelen werden gehouden. Interessant feit! Het Panathenaic Stadium, ook wel bekend als de Kalimarmaro, is het enige stadion ter wereld dat volledig uit marmer is gebouwd.
Onze volgende stop is bij het Griekse parlement – een gebouw dat oorspronkelijk werd gebouwd met als doel het paleis van Otto, de eerste koning van Griekenland.
Buiten het parlementsgebouw bevindt zich het graf van de onbekende soldaat, bewaakt door de presidentiële garde. Deze lichte infanterie-eenheid, gekleed in het traditionele Evzone-uniform, voert een beroemde wisseling van de wachtceremonie uit.
Vervolgens rijden we langs Panepistimiou Street die het Constitution (Syntagma) Square verbindt met Concord (Omonia) Square. Tijdens deze korte rit in het hart van de hoofdstad kom je drie prachtige gebouwen tegen: de Academie, de Universiteit en de Nationale Bibliotheek. Interessant feit! Gebouwd in de 19e eeuw, worden deze drie herenhuizen gewoonlijk aangeduid als de "neo-klassieke trilogie" van Athene.
Onze rijsessie gaat verder met een stop bij Lycabettus Hill, een van de hoogste uitkijkpunten van de stad, die een van de beste panoramische uitzichten over het centrum van Athene en de buitenwijken biedt.
Het nieuwe Akropolismuseum is geopend in 2009 en bevindt zich onder de zuidhelling van de Akropolis. Het museum bevat voornamelijk pedimentsculpturen, reliëfs en beelden die op de heilige rots zijn gevonden, die de decoratie vormde. Met meer dan 4.000 tentoonstellingen wordt het Akropolismuseum beschouwd als een van de beste en belangrijkste musea ter wereld.

Airport Pickup: Uw chauffeur zal u ontmoeten bij aankomst op de internationale luchthaven van Athene - "Eleftherios Venizelos", bij de douane-uitgang, met een H.P. Tours tekenen met je naam op. Port pick-up: Uw chauffeur wacht u op bij de cruiseschipterminal van Piraeus Port, met een H.P. Tours tekenen met je naam op. Merk op dat de haven van Piraeus drie terminals heeft, Terminal A, B en C. Afhankelijk van de terminal waar uw schip aanmeert, wacht uw chauffeur u op bij de bijbehorende uitgang. (bijvoorbeeld als uw schip aanmeert bij Terminal A, wacht uw chauffeur u op bij de uitgang van Terminal A enz.) Als uw schip aanmeert bij Terminal B of Terminal C en de bijbehorende uitgangspoort is gesloten, moet u de shuttlebus nemen om naar Terminal A te komen (3 MIN RIDE), waar uw chauffeur op u wacht.

amazing experience. they were super friendly and professional. Made the whole experience very easy and fun and very organized. The driver was very nice. The guide was very helpful and kind. we were able to communicate all our needs with HP tours via WhatsApp and they were very responsive to answer questions. Give us options. Adjust timings to make it comfortable. They even helped us get the best value tickets for the Acropolis without any price markup, which I really appreciate appreciated. They had a clean and very nice vehicle to transport our 14 passenger crew. I would highly recommend them to anybody!
From the moment I contacted H.P. Tours until our driver, Kyriakos, dropped us off at the airport the following day, our experience was 100% A+. Emails were responded to quickly and every request was greeted with positive professionalism. One member of our party had fallen at the beginning of our trip. She needed a wheelchair which was kindly provided and Kyriakos took excellent care of her when she was unable to visit a site in her wheelchair. Our guide, Helen, who works with H.P. Tasos was our driver and tour guide and did an excellent job! He was prompt in our pick up, communicated well, and knew how to keep us from the main crowds (although difficult in some of the popular sites). I highly recommend this tour! Please note that they recommend getting Acropolis tickets in advance (either on your own or they would get them for me, and we would reimburse our guide in cash). I got them for our group, and I got the wrong ones, but we were able to talk our way in. I highly recommend having them get them for you!!!!

Our driver, Tasos, was superb. Kind and very knowledgeable about the history of Athens. He catered our tour to our specific interests and was prepared with water, umbrellas, anything we needed. The van was also very clean, nice and comfortable. A top notch way to see Athens!

We had such a wonderful experience on our half-day Athens tour combined with a second day of another half-day trip to Cape Sounion. The balance between seeing the city highlights and then heading out along the beautiful coastal road to the Temple of Poseidon was perfect. It gave us a great mix of history, culture, and breathtaking views, all in one day. Our driver, Jimmy, made the tour exceptional. He was not only punctual and professional, but also incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. Throughout the journey, he shared fascinating details about Athens’ history, local culture, and the significance of each site we visited. Mario’s was excellent. Very professional airport pickup. Was a fantastic way to pick up at airport, see an overall view of the city and be delivered to our hotel (when our hotel room was ready!) We used Hellenic Private Tours for both our private airport transfer and a half-day Athens tour before our cruise, and it was excellent from start to finish. Being met right outside of customs and whisked straight to our hotel was such a smooth start to our trip. The next morning, our private driver and guide gave us the perfect introduction to Athens. We saw all the major sites, learned so much about the city, and even practiced a little Greek along the way. Having it just for our group made it more personal, with plenty of time for one-on-one questions and the flexibility to go at our own pace.
