IONICA, our guide today for our tour of Herculaneum, was excellent: knowledgeable, passionate about the subject matter, flexible (agreed to change our scheduled two hour tour to a three hour tour) and super friendly. This was a great tour! Our guide, Gennaro, was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. Herculaneum is a lot quieter than Pompeii and easier to see the whole site in one visit. We arrived by local train from Sorrento and it’s an easy 20 minute walk from the station. Highly recommended! Yesterday morning we had a nice visit to the Herculaneum Excavations in the company of the guide Ornella. We were a group of 15 people, including 7 children and 8 adults. We managed in just over 2 hours to delve into the ruins of the excavations, and Ornella managed to capture the attention of both us adults but especially that of our children. An experience that I highly recommend.
After visiting Pompeii we were accompanied by Ugo Somma to visit with a couple of friends also the archaeological site of Herculaneum. Wonderful! Many are limited to Pompeii, but Herculaneum almost allows you to enter a neighborhood of a city that still seems to be inhabited by the ancient Romans. And Ugo has known with competence, but above all with balance and with a passion all Neapolitan for the activity he carries out, make us grasp this particular dimension of the city of Herculaneum, which is a real jewel, which we were able to appreciate thanks to Ugo.
