Deze tour is een van onze meest aanbevolen tours op Zanzibar en omvat de twee (2) must-do-activiteiten in Stone Town; Gevangeniseiland (Quarantaine-eiland) en Nakupenda-zandbank. Op Prison Island leer je de geschiedenis van het eiland kennen, in het voormalige quarantainestation kun je ook de dieren zien; Aldabra-reuzenschildpad, dikdiks, pauwen, etc. Bomen en plantages, Zanzibar-deuren, gevangenisruïnes en nog veel meer. Nakupenda Sandbank is een van de grootste zandbanken van Zanzibar. Bij Nakupenda kun je genieten van zwemmen en snorkelen, ontspannen aan het rustigste water, het lunchbuffet dat je hebt geselecteerd (zeevruchten of vegetarisch) en nog veel meer. Dit is een levenslange ervaring die u niet wilt missen tijdens uw vakantie op Zanzibar.

Tijdens deze tour passeren we Stone Town, waar je enkele van de populaire bezienswaardigheden kunt zien; Oud fort, Forodhani Park, House of Wonders (Nationaal Museum), Zanzibar Port, State House, etc. Hier nemen we ook een boot naar Prison Island en vervolgens naar Nakupenda Sandbank en later na de reis keren we terug naar Stone Town.
Op Prison Island kun je Aldabra-reuzenschildpad, pauwen, Dik-dik (soorten kleine antilopen), gevangenisruïnes, enz. Zien. Een interessant feit over de Aldabra-reuzenschildpad is dat ze meer dan 200 jaar kunnen leven. De oudste op Prison Island is 197 jaar oud. Ze zijn een van 's werelds langstlevende dieren. Prison Ruins: Dit is een gebouw dat in 1983 werd gebouwd om de centrale gevangenis van Zanzibar te huisvesten. De bouw van de gevangenis begon in 1893. In hetzelfde jaar was er een cholera-epidemie geweest in Egypte en kort daarna de builenpest in Bombay. Aangezien Zanzibar de belangrijkste Oost-Afrikaanse haven was, hebben de autoriteiten besloten dat de gevangenis en andere opgetrokken gebouwen gereed moesten blijven als quarantainestation voor de juiste controlemaatregelen voor schepen en hun passagiers om het risico van een epidemie in de Zanzibar-archipel te voorkomen.
Nakupenda is een naam die wordt gegeven aan een zandbank die zich in de buurt van StoneTown bevindt, na de Prison Island-reis gaan we naar Nakupenda Sand Bank waar je kunt ontspannen, zwemmen en snorkelen. Het is een van de beste stranden van Zanzibar. We zullen ook een buffet hebben op basis van uw selectie, ofwel zeevruchtenbuffet of vegetarisch dat vers wordt bereid op de zandbank
Na Nakupenda Sandbank keren we terug naar Stone Town met een boot en brengen we je terug naar je hotel / accommodatie

It was an amazing experience with them, especially our guide Ahmed who was very nice and explained everything in detail. He also accomodated our dietary preferences, as we are vegetarian and the lunch provided was delicious.
Amazing scenery, awesome fresh seafood. Considerate tour guides and drivers. The boat rides to and from the islands are small old boats so try to pack minimally.

My husband and I had a beautiful time with the best tour guide, Selma! The prison island was cool, the sandbank was beautiful and the lunch was delicious! The only thing is, if you get sea sick, I would not recommend! The boat ride can be very rocky! Overall, amazing excursion!
Its the memory The Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island which is located in the western part of Zanzibar Island, just off Stone Town. It takes around 25 minutes by local boat riding from the Stone Town beach. The island’s main attraction is the popular Giant Tortoises, who can live up to 200 years. In this tour, you will get a chance to explore and learn the history of these beautiful creatures and also about Prison Island itself. You will be with our expert local tour guide who will be explaining each area of interest. Apart from being a place where you can go to see the Giant Tortoises, it also is a perfect destination to do swimming, & Relaxing on the beach. Therefore after all information about the Island, then you will have time for swimming & relaxing on the beach. which lasts till now.

My family did love this trip, we had an amazing time at both places, Prison Island and Nakupenda Sandbar. Also the lunch at Nakupenda was great combinations of seafoods, if you will have Snorkeling mask, please bring it as there is a little reef where you can snorkel and enjoy the beauty of underwater.
There was a change in our tour guide at the last minute and Abuu arrived at our hotel for pickup at 9:30 AM. It was raining in Stone Town that morning and he asked if we wanted to wait. But we forged ahead to the docks and waited briefly for the food and fuel to be loaded on the boat. As soon as we left the harbor, the rain stopped and Abuu started telling us about all the islands in the area. Even though he was very young, Abu knew a lot about Prison Island and took us to see a lot of big tortoises! But the highlight of the trip was Nakupenda Sandbank. By that time, the sun came out, we took amazing photos, and swam in the clear blue water. After an hour, we were invited to a seafood feast. The lobster, prawns, and octopus were excellent; and so were the chips (fries)! We stuffed ourselves so full that we didn't even get to the fruit platter. Then the rains came back in at 3 PM and they took us back a little early to Stone Town. Sultan Tours really came through this time -- we highly suggest their services when booking this tour
