For the visit to the castle, take the funicular to go up and buy the entrance ticket to the castle at the same time as the one for the funicular. The guided tour of the interior is not essential since there are no longer any intact rooms to visit. On the other hand, do not miss the walk in the garden to the large terrace which offers a magnificent view of the castle and the city.

We embarked on this tour to explore Heidelberg. Our knowledgeable guide, Henry, was well-versed in German history, particularly Heidelberg’s. He led us to the most captivating parts of the town, including the castle. His friendly and accommodating nature ensured that our 11-year-old son was thoroughly entertained throughout the tour. We truly appreciate his expertise and guidance.
Henry is funny and professional. He shares lots of insight of the city which I don’t see any tour guide do that. He definitely know the city very well. His pace is also sweet. U don’t feel like you are walking a long way.

Henry was a fabulous tour guide and very knowledgeable and happy to share about the most beautiful city in Germany! He took us around old town and shared interesting facts about all of the sights of the city! He was very personable and even took a few family photos for us! Great tour! We leaned a lot about the history of Heidelberg. Our guide Ekki was very knowledgeable about the city and went above and beyond for us. He even gaves us great recommendations after to tour for other things to do while we are here. It was totally worth it and we now have a greater appreciation for this cute little town.
Hauptstrasse is the main shopping street is lined with bookstores, cafes and restaurants. The Studentenkarzer is a former university prison. The streets are paved there are historic buildings.
