Absolute A+ service and bike conditions provided to us. We were impressed with the great quality like new condition of bikes. Appreciate the drop off and pick up of bikes and our wine orders dropped off to our accommodation. This was a perk staying where we did. Great info of winery visits. Super happy with our experience with On Yer Bike. Highly recommend. Highlight of our trip. Made for a great get away experience. Thank you.
We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the service, the recommendations, and the provided bikes! It's always our goal to enhance your experience through collaboration with local accommodation providers and be able to offer bike collection and drop off. Thanks for sharing your lovely feedback with us. Look forward to seeing you again.
Good operation & very accomodating
Thank you! We're glad to hear you had a great experience, we are always happy to help. The five stars means a lot to us!
We had an amazing time on the tour. Great advice from Phil, bikes were brilliant. Wineries were so interesting and when we bought some wine Phil even collected it for us! 5 stars! Recommend abbey winery and brewery for lunch with live music.
Thank you, Stuart! We're thrilled you had an amazing time and appreciated Phil's efforts. Abbey winery and brewery sounds fantastic with live music—great recommendation! Hope to see you on another adventure soon.
This was a great experience. The bikes were really well maintained and safe, Phil provided maps that gave us plenty of flexibility on our route, and he also picks up any purchased wine so we didn’t need to ride with it. The trails were well maintained and it was easy to get around to the wineries. I would recommend this to friends.
Thank you, Sara, for sharing your experience! We're delighted you enjoyed the bikes and service, and that the maps and wine pick-up added convenience to your trip. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you again!
Fourth time using On Yer Bike and it’s extremely convenient and great bikes. We went for the e-bikes this time and they were great for getting to the vineyards that were slightly further away, giving us more time for enjoying the tasting. Would 100% recommend
Thank you, its great to see you again. We are always thrilled that you enjoyed your time and found the e-bikes perfect for reaching the wineries. Your recommendation means a lot, and we hope to see you again for your next ride!
Bikes were not in best of shape. One of our group lost a pedal screw and we had to wait for cycle shop to deliver a new bike. We lost over 1/2 hour just waiting and further delays due to trying to manage with problem bike. Wine tour shortened. A few of the wineries offered no food snacks which made it difficult to have a wine tasting. Also wineries who are supposed to have lunch available said their chef never came in. We were very disappointed with both the wineries and the bike tour. I would recommend doing a wine tour in another area like Marlborough or Queenstown. Very disappointing for the good money paid!
Many thanks for the review, we do appreciate the time that goes into writing them and we do take into consideration any comments made. However, there are times when you feel nothing but disappointment when you read a review someone has left behind particularly as all interactions with them were warm and friendly, both at the start and end of day, including a thank you for being so helpful and attending to them quickly when one of the bikes had an issue. We get callouts on many occasions - mainly for flat tyres and occasionally an issue with a bike. We do spot checks on the bikes before they go out and ask all customers to check themselves to ensure they are comfortable; the bike is adjusted to their height and working correctly before they leave. It is far easier to ensure you are satisfied with the bike and address issues at the start, rather than halfway through a ride or at the end. The bikes in this instance were less than a year old. We respond to assistance calls as quickly as we can, and am sure in this instance it was within 15-20 minutes of the call. We found the group waiting at the gate of a local winery and quickly gave them a replacement bike. We believe one of the riders – who was not a confidant rider - had come off the bike a couple of times (on a flat, straight cycle path) knocking the pedal assembly causing it to loosen. Not something we can anticipate, thus the reason for having a no-fault replacement policy whilst on hire. We deal with ‘wear and tear’ of our bikes on a regular basis. Customers frequently return bikes with flat tyres, scratches, bent baskets, bent disc brakes, bent gear changers, brakes not working, broken spokes, and buckled wheels. We even had someone rip off a pedal by hitting a low brick wall! Bikes are returned, normally without any word of what they did to cause such damage and expect it to be acceptable that they fell off and the damage is not their fault. We do not believe that the time it took to respond to this issue in any way caused to shorten their wine tasting experience. They chose to wait at the gate of the winery rather than going in and start a wine tasting. They did not call immediately the malfunction occurred and walked to the next winery they were visiting before calling. Plus, they were that last people to report back that day, taking advantage of the full day to visit the local wineries in the region. Spending 15 minutes waiting for a replacement bike in a six hour hire surely did not mar the experience that much? As for the experience customers receive at the wineries in the local area. These are independent businesses and run separate to On Yer Bike Winery Tours. Comments or reviews regarding the service people receive there are probably better suited to the wineries individual TripAdvisor listing. In our daily briefings, we give our customers general knowledge about local wineries to visit; on opening hours, the availability of food, and whether they need to book etc. Often the wineries do not inform us if they are closed that day, not serving food due to staff issues, or are full booked out. We do see occasionally customers who are disappointed that they cannot get into a particular winery but have a great experience at another. There are plenty to choose from. We are here to try and give you a unique and affordable experience to be able to visit wineries and taste wine at the Cellar Door by bicycle. And to be on hand for the odd occasion when things do go awry, but to get you back out riding as soon as we can.
A great idea . Distances are easily manageable and the tastings are all great . Bikes were well maintained and comfortable . Great idea that the guy goes to collect any purchases . Plenty of parking for camper vans too
Thanks for the awesome review! We’ve tried to make the whole experience as relaxed and easy as possible — manageable riding distances, comfortable bikes, good wine, and no need to wobble around carrying bottles between wineries. Glad the wine collection service came in handy, and great to hear the camper van parking was useful too. Hope you enjoyed exploring the Hawke’s Bay wine trails and we’d love to see you back for another ride someday!
Brilliant tour. Bikes were excellent, instructions clear and detailed. We had a fantastic day and that was due in no small part to On Yer Bike. Our son and his girlfriend did the tour a few weeks ago and had a blindingly brilliant time too. Highly recommended.
Great bikes beautiful area just be sure not too early in week as many wineries not open. E-bikes are the way to go when very windy!
Thank you for the review. It is a wonderful area to cycle around and a great experience to do a wine tasting on e-bikes. It was unfortunate that this booking was moved to a Wednesday from a Thursday. Currently Wednesday has a couple of wineries open, Thursday and Friday a few more, with the weekend where everyone is open. When we set up our booking system for the year we expected more wineries to be open on a Wednesday, but alas we have been let down by the wineries moving to shorter hours for this summer season. Our website does give up-to-date days of opening for local wineries, plus a whole load of other information to help you make your visit more enjoyable. Unfortunately this is not information that can be easily copied onto third party websites as it can change monthly. Many of our customers find that three or four wineries is plenty to visit. This way you have time to enjoy the winery experience in a relaxed timeframe and the rides are not too long. Also Thursday and Friday are not as busy at the weekends and the cellar door staff can spend more time with you. Once again, thanks for the review and look forward to seeing you again.
Excellent day out with friends! Bikes were great, tastings were delicious and the terrain was beautiful. Ride was suitable for different fitness levels, we made it to 4 vineyards between 10am-4pm. Enjoyed every tasting and On Yer bike were awesome to deal with!
