Je reis begint bij het ingangsstation van het park, Volcano, HI. Eerst gaan we dwars door de toegangspoort en verkennen we de omgeving rondom het bezoekerscentrum. Opmerking : De tour is meer dan 24,5 mijl lang, met meer dan 43 audio verhalen, en duurt ongeveer 2 - 3 uur te voltooien. Nieuw, Levenslang toegang, geen vervaldatum. Gebruik het altijd, op elke reis, zo vaak als je wilt.
Het is een recreatieve voorziening voor soldaten, maar de geschiedenis was niet alleen leuk en leuk. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd dit een interneringskamp, niet alleen voor krijgsgevangenen, maar ook voor onschuldige Japanse burgers.
Stoomopeningen worden gecreëerd door de hitte van de Kilauea-vulkaan, die grondwater verwarmt dat vastzit in ondergrondse holtes. De stoom die uit de ventilatieopeningen opstijgt, is een indicator van de ondergrondse activiteit van de vulkaan.
Hier begint de korte maar fijne Sulphur Banks Trail. Nou, ik zeg lief ... maar dat is een leugen. Het is eigenlijk extreem stinken!
Deze plek kijkt uit over het adembenemende park en is een van de must-see plekken in het park. Hoewel de krater er niet uitziet als een typische vulkaan, is het eigenlijk een van de meest actieve ter wereld!
Dit pad leidt direct door de Kilauea Iki Crater! Het is een lus van 3,3 mijl die ongeveer drie uur duurt, maar de hoogteverschillen kunnen inspannend zijn.
De Thurston Lava Tube werd meer dan 500 jaar geleden gevormd toen gesmolten lava door het gebied stroomde en een tunnelachtige grot creëerde terwijl de lava aan de buitenkant afkoelde en verhardde terwijl de lava aan de binnenkant bleef stromen. Het resultaat is een uniek grottenstelsel dat bezoekers vandaag de dag kunnen verkennen.
De Luamanu-krater was ooit gevuld met een dicht bos ... maar dat veranderde allemaal in slechts één dag.
Puhimau Crater is een vulkanische functie in het Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, en als reizigers een ervaring boeken om het te bezoeken, kunnen ze getuige zijn van de unieke geologische formaties die zijn ontstaan door vulkanische activiteit.
Pauahi Crater is een steile krater die is gevormd door explosieve vulkanische activiteit. De krater is ongeveer 100 meter diep en heeft een diameter van 300 meter en staat bekend om zijn interessante geologische kenmerken, zoals de lavaspatafzettingen en de fumarolen, die stoom en gassen uitstoten.
Pu'u Huluhulu is een sintelkegel, net als Pu'upua'i. De naam betekent "harige heuvel" omdat er lage struiken overheen zijn gegroeid, waardoor het van veraf een wazig uiterlijk krijgt.
Kipuka's worden gevormd wanneer een lavastroom een gebied met oudere vegetatie omringt, en na verloop van tijd kan deze vegetatie blijven gedijen, waardoor een uniek eiland van leven ontstaat in het midden van een kaal lavaveld. Deze kipuka's hebben vaak hun eigen microklimaat, met andere grondsoorten en vochtigheidsniveaus dan de omgeving, waardoor verschillende plantensoorten kunnen groeien.
Dit verhoogde platform biedt een panoramisch uitzicht op de lavastroom Mauna Ulu. Het is overwegend vlak en grijs, maar let op de paddenstoelvormige formaties.
Pu'u Loa Petroglyphs is een historische plek in het Hawaii Volcanoes National Park op het Grote Eiland van Hawaï. Als reizigers een ervaring boeken om Pu'u Loa-rotstekeningen te bezoeken, kunnen ze meer dan 23.000 oude rotstekeningen zien die in de verharde lavasteen zijn geëtst.
De beroemde Holei Sea Arch. Deze beeldschone zeeklif heeft op natuurlijke wijze de vorm van een boog gevormd!
Misschien ziet u een klein gebouw dat losstaat van de rest van het bezoekerscentrum. Dat wordt de Volcano Art Center Gallery, een heerlijke plek om te stoppen als je een fan bent van schone kunsten.

This was way better than spending $280 for a tour, informative, easy to follow, at your own pace etc. only thing that would have been nice is if it would work in reverse.

It was very interesting. We enjoyed hearing the history of area. Try to make it to the arch by the sea, it was worth the drive. The app was able to keep track of where we were on our drive with gps even if we went out of order?

Very easy and informative audio tour if you haven’t planned for your Volcanoes NP visit and activities. NP app also includes a tour option, also self-paced, but not audio(facts must be read on the NP app). NP app is free but this one is fairly low cost. Both have their merits.
