Deze tour combineert, in tegenstelling tot alle andere, verhalen van first person ghost encounters, ghost lore en historische inzichten om je een huiveringwekkende verkenning van het historische centrum van Austin te bieden. Onze spoken beginnen bij het iconische Driskill Hotel. Liet Jesse Driskill meer na dan alleen zijn nalatenschap in dit gebouw toen hij overleed in 1890? Degenen die overnachten in het bijgebouw lijken dat zeker te geloven. Deze spookverhalen worden geserveerd met een kant van de geschiedenis. Onze reis voert langs 8 spookachtige bezienswaardigheden en culmineert in het Texas State Capital Building , waar ondeugende en misschien wraakzuchtige geesten griezelige spelletjes spelen en iedereen die nachtdiensten durft te draaien bang maken.

Bij onze eerste stop gaan we naar binnen in het beroemde Driskill Hotel om u kennis te laten maken met een paar van Austin's meest angstaanjagende geesten die door de gangen spoken en met de gasten van dit historische hotel spelen.
Kort verhaal auteur O. Henry woonde van 1893 tot 1895 in dit folk-Victoriaanse huis met zijn vrouw en dochter, samenvallend met een beetje problemen waar hij in verzeild raakte.
Buiten het theater uit 1915 leren we iets over de geschiedenis van de burgerrechten van Austin en het hartverscheurende verhaal van een man die van films hield.
We leren over Austin's meest legendarische personage wiens dreigende aanwezigheid in dit landhuis uit 1854 nog steeds aanwezig is.
Kom meer te weten over de geschiedenis en de spookbeelden van het Texas State Capitol-gebouw, waar geesten 's nachts de boel levendig houden.

Nicole was an absolutely fantastic tour guide! She was incredibly enthusiastic, engaging, and clearly very knowledgeable about all the spooky history and stories at each of the 8 stops along the tour. The entire experience was both interesting and informative, and it turned out to be such a fun way to spend the early part of the evening in Downtown Austin. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Austin — and even to locals like me who have lived here for years. I still learned so many new things and got to experience parts of the city in a completely different way. It’s also a great activity for both small and large groups, whether you’re with a few friends or a bigger crowd. Definitely worth it!

Overall, I was pleased with our experience. The guide was informative, knew a lot about the subject, and had a nice flow for the walking portion. There was a good balance of story telling vs. factual information, so it was enjoyable regardless of whether or not you believe in ghosts. To me, ghost tours are history tours with the added benefit of ghosts! It was also nice to hear about the history of downtown Austin and specific hauntings that have occurred. My only feedback was that I wish there were "more". More stories and more stops! I also think the stories can be told in a way that is more interesting... with more build and structure to them. But, this comment is very nitpicky. The stories themselves are interesting enough. Revising the way these stories are told would go a long way for this tour (sentence to get you hooked, big picture what was happening in the city, getting into the storyline, dramatization, strong conclusions, etc.). They're a newer tour group, so they're likely working through a lot of this anyway!

We very much enjoyed our walking tour with Emily, our guide. She was sweet and you can tell that she really has a passion for researching and verifying the true history of the stories she tells. I loved that she is a history nerd that wants to share her knowledge with others. Since the haunted tours are relatively new, Emily was still getting into the flow and rhythm of her story telling, but she does truly know her stuff. So I highly recommend that you give this a try!
