We reizen door de tijd om te landen in een oud historisch dorp dat ongeveer 300 jaar geleden is gebouwd. Nog niet, we zullen voor het Musmak-paleis staan om getuige te zijn van de grootste oorlog die destijds plaatsvond en die de stichting vormde van het koninkrijk Saoedi-Arabië. Bovendien zal het Nationaal Museum ons vertellen over vele verhalen die duizenden jaren geleden tot op de dag van vandaag plaatsvonden. Tenslotte zullen we genieten van een zeer heerlijke Saoedische traditionele maaltijd.

Het Nationaal Museum heeft verschillende afdelingen. Elk van hen brengt ons naar een divers tijdperk. We zullen door de tijd reizen naar meer dan duizenden jaren in het verleden om te praten over het stenen tijdperk en hoe deze mensen in die tijd overleefden. Aan de andere kant zullen we de tijdcapsule gebruiken om 300 jaar terug te reizen om de grondlegger van Saoedi-Arabië te ontmoeten. We zullen enkele plaatsen bezoeken met emotionele, adembenemende verhalen over koning Abdulaziz en hoe hij het koninkrijk Saoedi-Arabië verenigde. Ten slotte zullen we de geschiedenis ontdekken van de eenwording van het 1e, 2e en 3e Saoedische landgoed van 1727 tot nu.
Het Almasmak-fort. Eigenlijk is het een van de belangrijke plaatsen die u moet bezoeken tijdens uw verblijf in Riyadh. Het was het hoofdkwartier van het leger. Dit fort is een van de belangrijkste kastelen in Riyadh. Voor de poort vond in 1902 een veldslag plaats, wat het begin was van een nieuw tijdperk van het koninkrijk. We gaan terug in de tijd om getuige te zijn van de herovering van het fort door de stichter, koning Abdulaziz. Daarna zult u genieten van het passeren van de oude antiekveilingmarkt.
Dit dorp (Diriyah),,, De geschiedenis van het koninkrijk Saoedi-Arabië begon,, Vanaf hier werd de kern van het koninkrijk gevestigd. Vanaf hier werd Diriyah zes maanden lang belegerd en vernietigd door kanonnen. Vanaf hier beginnen we met het verhaal van het begin van de eerste Saoedische staat en hoe de gebeurtenissen plaatsvonden bij de opbouw van dit koninkrijk. Diriyah was de oorspronkelijke thuisbasis van de Saoedische koninklijke familie en diende van 1727 tot 1818 als hoofdstad van het emiraat Diriyah onder de eerste Saoedische dynastie. Het Turaif-district in Addiriyah, de eerste hoofdstad van Saoedi-Arabië in Diriyah, werd in 2010 opgenomen op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO.

Dr Thamer did a great tour introducing me to Saudi history via different sites in Riyadh including those important in the transitions from the first and second Saudi states. He highlighted the richness of its history and also shared about life today. The just reopened Masmak palace was impressive and the real star was Diriyah which is a key tourist attraction in the kingdom. The history museum is partly closed on Sunday so I returned on another day, but having been there with Dr Thamer I was much more comfortable going alone. Great introduction to Riyadh.
Truly excellent, pickup from our hotel, then a guided tour of Al-Turaif, the National Museum and the Al Mamask fortress. We ended up having a longer day than expected, so to not get stuck in traffic he escorted us back to our hotel via the subway.
I had such a great time on this tour. Habiba was my tour guide and she was incredibly knowledgeable and relaxed. Her son was our driver who was so fun to hear stories from, a great duo overall. I felt safe as a solo female traveler, taken care of, and that they wanted me to see the best of Riyadh in the short amount of time we had together on this tour. It was great to see a mix of history through Diriyah and the Palace and then some facts with the museum. Overall would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to explore Riyadh as a solo traveler.
Dr Thamer is really an awesome tour guide! He speaks good English and so warm and welcoming! Really enjoyed time with him, he took us to a local restaurant which is great too. He also was flexible enough to drop us off at airport, which is appreciated!

Thamer did an excellent job. The tour visited almost every major tourist site in Riyadh, and Thamer’s knowledge was exceptional. This tour visits the historical heart of old Riyadh as well as some of the more modern areas too. I would highly recommend this tour for a short stay in Riyadh.

Our extremely kind and knowledgeable guide Dr Thamer took us on an amazing tour of some of the main attractions in Riyadh. We started at the old city of Diriyah, which gave us a facinating incite to the birth of the Saudi Kingdom. This was followed up by a visit to the National Museum for greater historical perpective. Next stop was the old Souk for a bit of shopping, and then we were treated to some Saudi coffee, dates and sweet Saudi pancakes. We ended the tour with a visit to Kingdom Tower and the spectacular view of the city from the Skybridge on the 99th floor. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Riyadh looking for an interesting and thoroughly enjoyable day out.

The flexibility, learning about local food. The guide is also extremely educated and lived abroad in two different countries. He used his experience to compare with the direction of development for Saudi Arabia and was very honest about the changes and life. It was great for to hear from him that Saudi Arabia is opening up and that female travelers don’t need to worry about what they wear.
