Vers van uw cruiseschip op slechts 2 minuten van de Katakolo-cruiseterminal, ontmoet onze meertalige medewerkers en begin uw avontuur om de geboorteplaats van de Olympische Spelen te verkennen. We hebben ca. 1 uur om het oude Olympia te bereiken
Olympia, een heiligdom van het oude Griekenland in Elis op het schiereiland Peloponnesos, staat bekend als gastheer van de Olympische Spelen in de klassieke oudheid. Beleef samen met ons het wonder en de spanning van de originele Olympische Spelen, die werden gehouden vanaf 776 voor Christus. tot 393 na Chr. terwijl je de ruïnes van de grote monumenten verkent. Betreed de beroemde archeologische vindplaats Olympia en bewonder de tempel van Hera, waarvoor de Olympische vlam brandt tijdens de moderne Olympische Spelen. Bekijk de tempel van Zeus, waar ooit het gouden en ivoren standbeeld van Zeus stond (een van de zeven wereldwonderen) en het oorspronkelijke stadion en het bouleuterion, monumenten als geen ander, waar ooit concurrenten een eed zwoeren om zich aan de regels te houden . We verblijven 3 uur in het oude Olympia wanneer u de archeologische vindplaatsen en het moderne dorp Olympia kunt bezoeken om te winkelen, souvenirs, lunch en snacks.
Daarna gaan we terug naar het dorp Katakolo (60 minuten rijden terug), waar u door de pittoreske kleine haven kunt slenteren, kunt zwemmen op het nabijgelegen strand, kunt winkelen in de plaatselijke winkels of direct terug kunt gaan naar het cruiseschip.

Wonderful experience! The building was easy to find and close to port. We were early and they managed to get us on an earlier than scheduled bus. Our guide was very knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating and provided some lovely information on the 30 minute bus ride there. They also provided a helpful map from the town to the two museums and the archaeological site. We were welcome to follow the guide or walk on our own (we went on our own) and met up at the cafe in town for the ride back to the port. We really enjoyed this excursion!
We had the best tour guide, Sabrina, who was super sweet and gave us all kinds of great information about Katakolo and Olympia. Well worth the visit and we loved the charming town of Olympia. If you go, you must stop at the Cafe Olympia and get a gyro - best we have ever had!!!❤️🤤
They had a good bus, it was timely, they were fully focused on getting you to the destination and back. They did their best to make sure everyone was on the bus before leaving.
They talked to us on the drive over. We did not expect that, thought it was just a shuttle. She even guided us a little there. We combined with the VR headsets. That added a nice touch in the ruins.
This is a ride to Olympia and guide to the site. Visit the site and museum on your own. We had time for lunch and shopping on the main street while waiting for the return bus. It was a great day! Only issue was tour company didn't have us on their list, but they accepted our Viator confirmation. Also, directions from pier brought us across the street from meeting point. Signage on building could be better.
Fantastic experience overall. The pick-up spot was right next to Terminal,getting there was effortless. The bus was comfortable, and we had plenty of time to enjoy the Olympian visit. George’s commentary on the way was engaging and very informative. Everything—from pick-up to drop-off—was smooth, punctual, and well coordinated. Highly recommended.
The bus to Olympia was easy to get on and off. The guides were very friendly. It was a good amount of time to see everything and still have lunch in town.
This was pretty much a bus ride to Olympia and back, as promised. However had to rate it 4/5 stars because some of us passengers really struggled to understand the person directing us on this bus. Her English was not great and she simply said “ yes,ok” to us even when we were misunderstanding her direction and trying to clarify. This led us to think we were just stopping to go to the bathroom and returning to the bus. Thankfully I found another guide that spoke better English and clarified.
We had a wonderful experience on this excursion! Everything was perfectly organized and started right on time. Our guide, George, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very informative, making the trip both enjoyable and interesting. He shared great insights throughout the tour and made sure everyone had a great time. Highly recommend this excursion!
The actual description requires more clarity. This is not a “tour”. It is bus transport from just outside the cruise port to the Town where the the Ancient site is. There are no tour guides- merely people who direct you on and off the bus. At the Ancient Site you have to buy your entrance tickets and go through the site I. Your own (there is an app you can download). Staff upon arrival were surly and annoyed when questioned because most people thought this was a tour. If 2 or more just rent a car. Drive is easy and straightforward and allows you your own timing.
