Wandeltocht door het oude Istanbul" zal reizigers helpen om 'moeilijk te vinden' geheime plekken te ontdekken en bezoeken te brengen aan de hoogtepunten van de oude stad van Istanbul met een ervaren gids. Combineer buiten de gebaande paden van de oude stad met de hoogtepunten van Istanbul tijdens minder drukke tijden en beleef een echt stadsavontuur. - Luister naar de verhalen van de Grieken, Romeinen en de Ottomanen in en rond Sultanahmet - Bezoek aan de Hagia Sophia ooit een kerk, moskee, museum en weer moskee - Loop door de straten van de Grand Bazaar, de grootste overdekte soek ter wereld - Verken de Süleymaniye-moskee en leer over de islam vanuit een lokaal oog - Bezoek de prachtige Rüstempaşa-moskee die beroemd is om zijn grootte en de Iznik-tegels - Proef de kruiden en lokum (Turks fruit) in een ruimtemarkt die je moet bezoeken

Je gids zal je ontmoeten voor de Duitse fontein en vervolgens het historische Sultanahmet-plein introduceren. Uw gids zal u kennis laten maken met de diepe Turkse geschiedenis. Je ziet de Egyptische Obelisk, de Serpentine Column, Colossus en Column of Costantine Porphyrgenitus.
Je brengt een bezoek aan de beroemde Blauwe Moskee, beroemd om zijn 6 minaretten en de tegels erin. Het is niet alleen als moskee gebouwd, het is een 'complex' gebouw waar vroeger ook mensen werden gesocialiseerd. Van buiten is er niets 'blauw', maar als je eenmaal binnen in de moskee bent, zul je versteld staan van de prachtige blauwe tegels die in de 17e eeuw speciaal voor deze moskee zijn gemaakt.
Na een bezoek aan de Blauwe Moskee, vervolgen we onze tour met een bezoek aan de Hagia Sophia die uit zowel christelijke als islamitische elementen bestaat.
Na de Hagia Sophia gaan we naar de Grand Bazaar, wandelend over de Divanyolu-straat die oorspronkelijk in kaart was gebracht door Constantijn de Grote. Dwalend door de achterafstraatjes van de Grand Bazaar, ziet u de goederen die daar worden verkocht en hoort u over de onderhandelingscultuur van uw reisleider.
Je stopt bij de Old Book Bazaar waar de eerste boeken worden gedrukt in Turkije. Naast historische boeken zijn er moderne boeken die voor studenten worden verkocht - er is een van de oudste universiteit naast de deur - de universiteit van Istanbul.
Je gids neemt je mee naar het Süleymaniye-moskeecomplex dat uitzicht biedt op de Bosporus en de rivier de Gouden Hoorn. De moskee en de omliggende gebouwen zijn ontworpen door Mimar Sinan, de beroemdste en meest getalenteerde van alle keizerlijke architecten. De bouw vond plaats tussen 1550 en 1557. Je krijgt de kans om op het prachtige tapijt in de moskee te zitten en meer te weten te komen over de islamitische geschiedenis.
We gaan dan verder naar de kleine Rüstempaşa-moskee waar je de beroemde Iznik-tegels van dichtbij kunt zien. Moskee staat bekend om zijn grote hoeveelheden İznik-tegels, in een zeer grote verscheidenheid aan bloemen- en geometrische ontwerpen, die niet alleen de façade van de veranda bedekken, maar ook de mihrab, minbar en muren. Er zijn ongeveer 80 verschillende patronen.
We eindigen de tour bij Spice Market waar je Turkse lekkernijen en de kruiden kunt proeven. Spice Market is nog steeds een van de winkelcentra voor de lokale bevolking in de buitenwijk Eminönü. Er zijn verschillende secties voor verschillende producten binnen en buiten de bazaar - zoals de vismarkt, de kaasmarkt, de koffiesectie en de sectie met Turks fruit.

We had a great time! The tour may be changed, depending on what is open as Friday prayers had to be worked around for my particular tour. Also, some of the sites are under construction. Sila is knowledgeable, energetic and knows the city well and is highly recommended for solo or a larger group if needed.
Turkey proved to be a pleasant discovery, thanks to its interesting history, which our guide Kamil managed to recount in a simple and comprehensive manner, without omitting anecdotes and curiosities. His way of interacting with us, allowing us to discover the authentic and traditional reality of Istanbul and beyond, was one of the highlights of this trip. Sga Travel is an excellent agency that organised a truly interesting and carefree trip for us. We recommend them and their talented guides to anyone who wants to discover Turkey.

The half day highlights tour with Sila was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and personable. My husband wears a medical device which cannot go through the scanners at the Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar. She happily explained the situation to security and he was able to go through. As well as the Blue Mosque, we also visited a couple of other mosques which were very impressive and not as crowded, and the Spice Bazaar which I think is better than the Grand Bazaar. She also helped us get back to Pera via the Tunel which was extremely helpful. Saved this older couple a 500m walk up a very steep hill to our hotel. Very much recommend this tour.
Eser was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Turkiye and Istanbul. We enjoyed our day with him so much - touring the top sights as well as a food tour, and we would do another tour with him anytime!
