Sandwich Harbour, onderdeel van het Namib Naukluft Park, is een plek waar velen van hebben gehoord, maar die maar weinigen ooit hebben bezocht. Gigantische zandduinen lopen rechtstreeks de oceaan in en creëren adembenemende landschappen en unieke landschappen, wachtend om ontdekt te worden!

Na een korte pauze bij de Walvis Bay Lagoon om massa's flamingo's te zien, brengt de rit ons in eerste instantie naar de Kuiseb-rivierdelta, een droge rivierbedding waar nog steeds de vreemde springbok te zien is. Aangezien dit gebied deel uitmaakt van onze Kuiseb Delta Concessie, zijn wij de enige activiteitenoperator die toegang heeft tot dit gebied. Als het weer en de getijden het toelaten, rijden we rechtstreeks naar de Sandwich Harbor Lagoon langs het strand, een van de rijkste en unieke wetlands van Zuid-Afrika en een van de vijf RAMSAR-locaties (Ramsar-site nr. 743) in Namibië.
Sandwich Harbor heeft twee verschillende wetlands en bijbehorende wadplaten. De ene wordt gevoed met watervoerende lagen en ondersteunt typische opkomende vegetatie, maar verdwijnt langzaam door natuurlijke oorzaken. De tweede, onder invloed van het getij, bestaat uit wadplaten en verhoogde dakspaanbalken. Het is ingeklemd tussen de zee en de Namib-duinen en is een van de belangrijkste wetlands aan de kust van Namibië, met acht bedreigde diersoorten onder de grote aantallen waadvogels. Er bestaan verschillende archeologische vindplaatsen die 1000 jaar oud zijn. Menselijke activiteiten omvatten vissen, het verzamelen van guano en jagen. Highly recommend this tour. Sandwich Harbour 4x4 provides a wonderful, exhilarating tour of the dunes and Sandwich Harbour in the Dorob National Park. Our guide Elmar was dry engaging with his job and was also excellent in ensuring we not only had a thrilling ride through the dunes and saw many springbok and oryx along the way. He was great at finding stunning views and locations away from the other tours. One of the highlights is the stop for drinks and refreshments. The spread Sandwich Harbour 4x4 provided was incredible - sparkling wine, beer, fresh Namibian oysters, beef kebabs, chicken schnitzel, fish and other bites plus three small desserts including a local Namibian treat. All in all, a fun afternoon that I would like to do again next I visit Namibia!
Simply sensational. Without clouds it is indescribable, but more beautiful than the Maranhenses Lençóis. Only it is far from Swakpmond and is expensive.
Excellent scenery and food, and amazing guide, his knowledge was amazing and very humorous. He could also drive a dune very well!
It was amazing and Elmar was a superb host. We were treated so well and he went out of his way to seek out the wildlife and give us a really good trip. The meal they prepared was delicious. Best experience for a long time!
This trip was just absolutely fantastic. Our guide Marshal was so knowledgeable about his country and the wildlife. We saw Gecko up close, Cormorants, Seals, and Jackals. The Namib Desert 4x4 trip was fabulous and the views from the top of high dunes breathtaking. Lunch was so good too in the most beautiful setting on the beach you can imagine. Can you tell I enjoyed it !
This was a great experience getting to see the beautiful landscapes and thrilling driving along the beach and over the dunes. Our guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. The quality of the lunch provided was superb especially the local oysters. We got to see quite a bit of wildlife including the flamingos, a jackal and springbok. As there were just 3 of us we got our own 4x4 and it felt a lot more customised than the big groups we saw in other convoys also visiting the area. Please note: we passed a number of dead and dying seals along the way which might be upsetting to some.
Sam was one of the best and most fun loving guides I have had the pleasure of driving with. He gave ample time for us to take photos, made jokes, was knowledgable about the animals, dunes, sea, tide and swells. We were spoilt beyond measure. He is a super fantastic guide and his driving capabilities kept me smiling the whole way- my cheeks are still sensitive. If you appreciate nature and want to experience the dunes, I recommend going with Sandwich Harbour 4x4
We had a great day with Elmar - such a kind and experienced guide, and the views of the dunes next to the water was amazing. I'm so glad that we did this excursion as a tour, because I would not have felt comfortable driving on the dunes and in the sand. A bit expensive, but this tour was definitely worth it! We also had a lovely lunch too.
Sandwich and Pelican Point should have been the best moments of our stay on the Namib coast. First of all, the guide who was leading the group, I think her name was Leonne, was very, very rude to another guide, the white-haired senior guide. Then we went to Sandwich. Our guide was great, but the head of the guides got stuck. Very unprofessional. Then we went to the Pelican Peninsula. One of the other guides, Hansen, ended up in a river, with the car starting to float in the water. It's very dangerous! The members of our group could have drowned! They got wet in the car! That's not acceptable. The head of the guides panicked and did not know how to handle the situation. The elderly driver pulled out the car and saved the lives of our friends, and even the car itself. This company does not have the right guides to treat their guests well and safely. What a great afternoon! The dunes of Sandwich Harbour are amazing and driving across them in a 4x4 is one of the most spectacular ways to experience them. We booked directly with Nico Robberts, on a personal recommendation, and he was an absolutely brilliant guide and great fun. The luxurious desert picnic Nico laid on was a highlight!
