Pla de Bages is een bevoorrechte regio, omringd door de mythische bergen van Montserrat en Castelltallat, Sant Llorenç del Munt en het natuurpark Obac. Bovendien, deze Catalaanse zone heeft een grote traditie in het produceren van wijn, zelfs doen is een klein gebied, het is erfgenaam van de grote wijntradities in het centrum van Catalonië. Olijfolie is een basiselement van het mediterrane dieet , waarbij de meeste maaltijden worden geserveerd met een fles met olijfolie aan de zijkant. Je ziet de fantastische vorm van de Magische Berg van Montserrat vanuit de auto naar de wijnmakerij. Zodra u bij de wijnmakerij aankomt, ontdekt u de oude kelder en de nieuwe kelder.
We bezoeken een familiebedrijf, een biologische wijnmakerij die in 1885 hun eigen wijngaarden begon te cultiveren en in de wijnwereld werkte en tegenwoordig de vijfde generatie is die speciale zorg besteedt aan de wijngaard en zich inspant om de maximale kwaliteit aan hun producten te geven. Deze ervaring omvat ook een bezoek aan de wijnmakerij, waar u een typisch Catalaanse boerderij kunt bezoeken en door de biologische wijngaarden kunt dwalen in zijn unieke omgeving. We zullen de lokale variëteiten leren kennen, zoals witte Picapoll, sumoll, mandó en Red Picapoll, we zullen de productie-installatie en de vatenkamer verkennen en tot slot zullen we twee wijnen proeven waar ze ons alles zullen uitleggen over die wijnen die vergezeld gaan door een voorgerecht. Na onze wijnproeverij leren we alles over olijfolie.
Olijfolie is een basiselement van het mediterrane dieet, waarbij de meeste maaltijden worden geserveerd met een flesje olijfolie ernaast. Om deze reden is het hebben van deze ervaring een manier om jezelf onder te dompelen in de Catalaanse cultuur. Deze ervaring laat je de wondere wereld van dit vloeibare goud zien terwijl je geniet van het prachtige landschap van Vall d'Hortons. Wandelend langs de eeuwenoude biologische olijfgaarden, zult u genieten van de rust van het landschap met het fantastische uitzicht op de bergen van Montserrat. Als u de werkplaats bezoekt waar deze olie wordt geproduceerd, leert u hoe het proces wordt uitgevoerd en ten slotte kunt u genieten van en olieproeven met typische en biologische Catalaanse producten van Vall d'Hortons zoals kaas, honing en vleeswaren.

What a beautiful day! We were picked up at our hotel PROMPTLY by David… he drove us to an AMAZING niche Olive Oil plantation. Operated the most wonderful and knowledgeable team. THE OIL was exquisite. Of course we had to buy a bunch. 😘 Next, we travel to another small niche winery… And all we can say is …. OMG. The wine was divine, from the whites, reds, sparkling and to the fabulous aged. They also hold local events here… Weddings, teambuilding, private party and tapas and a wine bar on the weekends for locals …events… With four rooms to choose from, large to intimate the aesthetics were impressive . it’s owned by the same family for generations and the unique thing is that they have kept tools, bottles barrels and yes animal skins that wine was stored in. Very educational . Needless to say several hundred dollars later… and several cases later heading to the states. Thank goodness they ship. David’s driving was immaculate, safe and a beautiful journey we were taken back to our hotel. A memory we soon will not forget.

We had a wonderful time on this tour; thank you, Melanie! The tour was private, just GF and I, in a private car. Melanie was wonderful and knowledgable and the food and wine were delicious and seemed authentic. The locations were carefully selected and took us to some off the beaten path places. The tours we received were extensive and thorough; the guides were happy to answer our many questions. The olive oil and chocolate we bought are amazing. If you have an opportunity to work with Melanie and her company, do it! I would repeat this exact same tour in a heartbeat.

Loved this tour! Fantastic wat to end our trip! We have never done an olive oil tasting before and this was very interesting and fun. The winery was beautiful and I enjoyed every wine we tasted! I highly recommend this tour!

We had an amazing time on our Barcelona Discovery Tour! Definitely recommend the wine/olive oil tour and tour company. The communication setting up the tour was so easy. Melanie came to pick us up at our hotel and we drove through the beautiful Catalan region. It was a foggy day, but we were still able to see a little bit of Montserrat from the distance. Our first stop was a beautiful winery, where we had a private tour with Marisola. We learned about the history of the winery and their wine making process (both old and new). We had a tasting of some great wines and an impressive spread including cheese, meat, bread, tomato, pate, chocolate, etc to accompany our wines in one of the historic stone houses. The wines and the experience were great! One of the best vineyard tours we've been on. The wines were really good and we ended up buying some to take home. Our second stop was the olive oil tasting and tour. We had a private tasting and tour with Aena. We learned about the history of the olive orchard, what to look for in tasting, did a tasting, and then walked around the beautiful orchard. It was an awesome and new experience as we never did a olive oil tasting before. The olive oil was great and we ended up buying olive oil and chocolate for gifts. It was an awesome day! Thanks to Melanie, we could not have been more happy with our tour. Barcelona Discovery does an awesome job of partnering with great wineries, olive orchards, and different experiences. We had such a great time. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Spain!
