Curzon Hall is een opvallende vroeg-20e-eeuwse bakstenen bezienswaardigheid in Shahbagh, binnen de campus van de Universiteit van Dhaka. Oorspronkelijk in gebruik genomen als gemeentehuis, werd de eerste steen gelegd door Lord Curzon in 1904 en het gebouw werd voltooid in 1908. Sinds 1921 huisvest de zaal de Faculteit Wetenschappen. De Indo-Saracenische architectuur toont een sierlijke fusie van Mughal en Europese stijlen - met koepels, hoefijzer- en boogbogen, sierlijke torentjes, diepe dakranden en charmante veranda's. Naast zijn academische rol speelde Curzon Hall een cruciale rol in de geschiedenis van Bangladesh: het was een centrum voor protest tijdens de Bengaalse Taalbeweging (1948–56), waar studenten pogingen veroordeelden om Urdu als enige staatstaal af te dwingen. Curzon Hall wordt omgeven door groene gazons, een botanische tuin, speelvelden en een historische vijver en biedt een rustige en pittoreske omgeving te midden van de bruisende campus.
Shaheed Minar (Martelarenmonument) in Dhaka is een krachtig nationaal symbool ter ere van degenen die het leven lieten tijdens de Bengaalse taalbeweging in februari 1952. Op die dagen werden studenten en activisten van de Dhaka University en het Dhaka Medical College doodgeschoten toen ze vreedzaam eisten dat Bengaals als staatstaal erkend zou worden. Het huidige monument, dat ongeveer 14 meter hoog is, is voorzien van stijgende marmeren zuilen die in een halve cirkel staan opgesteld – symbool voor een rouwende moeder met haar gevallen kinderen – met een opvallende rode zonneschijf erachter. Witte trappen en leuningen geven het een plechtige, bijna goddelijke uitstraling, terwijl inscripties met ijzeren letters dichtregels de hekken sieren. Binnen vertellen marmeren vloeren en een groot muurpaneel in de kelder de geschiedenis van de beweging.
Lalbagh Fort is een onvolledig 17e-eeuws Mughal-fortcomplex dat voor de Buriganga-rivier staat in het zuidwestelijke deel van Dhaka, Bangladesh. The guide provided me with a great introduction to Dhaka and it's history and origins with his vast knowledge of the city. He took me to several important sites in Old Dhaka explaining the significance of each in some detail. He was happy to answer any questions I had about Dhaka. Also he was interested in where I came from and why I had chosen to visit Bangladesh. A worthwhile tour which I am happy to recommend.

We really only visited two of the sights; the other ones we saw only from the outside and after it got dark. I think it's probably impossible to do this tour in half a day and the guide, although well intentioned, couldn't manage the time adequately in a city with Dhaka's traffic.

I booked the tour last minutes, however, everything was organized and planned well, on time pick up，my guide Shahadat is accommodating and explain the places well. I’ve learned the history of Bangladesh along this tour, would recommend if you have one day to spare in Dhaka.

Our tour was initially postponed by one hour and suddenly canceled 15 minutes before the start. We checked with our hotel concierge, and some places on the list were closed and shouldn’t be even proposed. This was a huge disappointment.

Visited lots of places in Old Dhaka. Such an amazing place with narrow streets and authentic buildings. Fantastic driver and guide who did everything to show the highlights of the Bangladeshi capital. I recommend this tour. Easy commucation, punctual pick up and great stops.
