Ayutthaya Sunset Ride is een aangename fietstocht van 3-4 uur waarbij deelnemers na zonsondergang de prachtig verlichte tempelruïnes kunnen bewonderen, een unieke ervaring! Alle tempels lijken 's nachts meer magisch te zijn en dit geweldige fietsavontuur geeft de deelnemers een heel ander perspectief op de verwoeste tempels. Ayutthaya Sunset Ride is een must-do ervaring.

Dit is de plaats waar we onze tours beginnen en eindigen. Na het selecteren van geschikte fietsen en het afstellen van de stoel, geven we je instructies en een fietshelm (indien gewenst) en gaan we verder.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet (Thai: วัด พระ ศรี สรร เพ ช ญ์; "Tempel van de Heilige, Splendid Alwetende") was de heiligste tempel op de plaats van het oude koninklijke paleis in de oude hoofdstad van Ayutthaya in Thailand totdat de stad volledig verwoest was door de Birmese in 1767. Het was de grootste en mooiste tempel in de hoofdstad en diende als een model voor Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok.
Wat Mahathat, "de tempel van de grote relikwie", was een van de belangrijkste tempels in het koninkrijk Ayutthaya. Gelegen op het historische eiland, heeft het grote klooster een enorme centrale prang, een zeer grote hoofdsom viharn en ubosot en een groot aantal dochterachtige chedi's en viharns. Het bovenste deel van de eens zo grote centrale prang is ingestort. Vandaag blijft alleen de basis over. Een van de meest gefotografeerde objecten van de tempel is het hoofd van een stenen Boeddhabeeld verstrengeld in de wortels van een boom.
Wat Lokaya Sutha is een enorme tempelruïne. Het is uitgelijnd in de richting van een oost / west-as. Het klooster is zwaar gerestaureerd, inclusief vloertegels en stenen vloeren. Het grootste deel van de tempel bestaat alleen op het basisstamniveau. Dit omvat enkele stompen van pilaren en basismuren. Bij de oostelijke ingang zijn de overblijfselen van drie vihans. Achter deze preekzalen ligt een grote 30 meter hoge, Late Ayutthaya-periode, in de stijl van de Khmer-stijl. Deze Prang-toren heeft een holle ingang aan de oostkant. De overblijfselen van een ubsot zijn te zien achter de prang. Alleen de basisfunderingslaag is bewaard gebleven, maar er zijn veel sema-stenen en het afval van Boeddha-afbeeldingen. Aan de zuidwestelijke hoek van deze ubosot staat een grote klokkentoren. Het hoogtepunt van deze tempel is het enorme liggende Boeddha beeld (37 meter lang en 8 meter hoog), dat zich achter de ubosot bevindt.
Ayuthaya staat bekend om zijn zoete, islamitische snacks, curries en nám prík (pittige dip), en de bruisende undercover Chao Phrom Market is de plek om ze te vinden, plus diverse Thais-Chinese en andere islamitische gerechten. De openingstijden van deze dagmarkt hangen af van individuele verkopers, maar het is op zijn hoogtepunt in de vroege namiddag.

- Vanwege renovatiewerkzaamheden aan het elektriciteitsnet in Ayutthaya is het mogelijk dat sommige tempels niet worden verlicht.

You drive a lot along the highway where cars rush by. There was only 1 guide. She was leading the way and didn't look back. Sometimes I stayed a bit behind and hoped to catch up again. She had a bike with a lot of gears. I asked if it could be slowed down, but we were in a hurry. (It was 32 degrees though) All in all I thought it was irresponsible and irresponsible. Glad I wasn't with my son. The guide was nice but rode ahead and didn't see if we followed.

De tour startte al 5 minuten later dan gebruikelijk en door de vieringen van het Thais Nieuwjaar hebben we de route ook wat aanmoeten passen. We willen u erop wijzen dat uw groep uit slechts vijf deelnemers bestond. Om een persoonlijke ervaring te waarborgen, hebben we ervoor gekozen om met één gids te werken, wat voor een kleinere groep als de uwe normaal gesproken voldoende is. Het is echter belangrijk om te horen dat dit niet aan uw verwachtingen voldeed. Wat betreft het tempo en de communicatie met de gids, begrijpen we dat dit voor u een punt van frustratie was. We zullen deze feedback zeker bespreken met ons team, zodat we de aandacht en het tempo van onze gidsen kunnen verbeteren. Voor toekomstige deelnemers die een aangepast tempo wensen, raden we aan om een privé tour te overwegen, zodat er meer ruimte is om in te spelen op persoonlijke wensen. We had a wonderful evening on this tour. Our lovely guide Bella took us safely around the town visiting many sites at night. Our guide was knowledgeable and showed us a great time. It was so nice being abke to see the Wats when it was quiet. The cycling was easy and the meal at the end was great. Fantastic night with Bella.

We had an amazing time cycling through town with Bella! The office where you meet up is a little bit out of the way but you can get there easily by Grab or tuk tuk (or motorbike if you have one). Once we arrived we were greeted by Bella and it turned out we were the only ones who booked that night, so it turned into a private cycling tour. We first took the ferry across the river which was really cool and cycled around until we arrived at Wat Mahathat, we then continued on for a stroll around the night market and tasted a few local snacks/appetisers which were all great! After this we continued Wat Phra Ram and Wat Phra Si Sanphet before we stopped at a very local spot for dinner. Bella ordered a hunch of dishes for us to try and all of them were very delicious and we had never tried before. We were also the only foreigners in this place which tells you how local it was, we absolutely loved this! After dinner we finished the tour by cycling back to the office. All in all this was an amazing experience and a huge thanks to Bella for making this tour so enjoyable. Just be aware that since this is in the evening the Wats will be closed so you'll enjoy them from outside the grounds, which is still very impressive. Highly recommended doing this tour to give you a different perspective of the city at night.

The bikes were in great condition. Our guide was really knowledgeable and personable. We saw some amazing sites, and a particular highlight was standing at the top of one of the temples, as the sunset, as the bats were flying out of the temple en masse! Just stunning!
