Tijdens deze tour van een halve dag leer je veel over de fascinerende geschiedenis van Zuid-Afrika tijdens een stadservaring in Pretoria. Pretoria is de hoofdstad van Zuid-Afrika en staat daarom vol met historische bezienswaardigheden.
Een belangrijke attractie tijdens deze tour is het Voortrekker Monument. Dit monument is van grote betekenis voor veel Afrikaans sprekende Zuid-Afrikanen, daar staat het voor Afrikaner Nationalisme. Het monument heeft de vorm van een grote stenen kubus. De binnenmuren verbeelden het verhaal van de Grote Trek, een massabeweging van Afrikaanse Boeren die een hekel hadden aan de Britse overheersing.
Pretoria heeft karakter in zijn gebouwen en tijdens deze stadsarchitectuurtour krijgt u ruimschoots de gelegenheid om uw gids te vragen naar de geschiedenis achter de gebouwen en cultuur. We bezoeken het Kerkplein met prominente gebouwen als de Ou Raadsaal, het Justitiepaleis en het Kapitaaltheater.
De volgende interessante plek op onze tour is het Paul Kruger House Museum. Kruger Nationaal Park is vernoemd naar Paul Kruger. Leer meer over deze fascinerende man en zijn leven. Het huis toont meubels en persoonlijke spullen van de familie Kruger.
We bezoeken de Union Buildings, het hoofdkwartier van de regering. De gebouwen zijn prachtig gelegen in terrasvormige tuinen, waar u heerlijk kunt wandelen.

I visited Pretoria on an excellent day trip from Johannesburg. Lebo was an outstanding guide! He provided an overview of South Africa's history and explained how Johannesburg and Pretoria have developed over time. The Voortrekker Monument captured a rich history in its design while the Paul Kruger House and Museum included interesting artifacts. We passed by the Union Buildings and park at the end. Definitely recommend this tour!

While visiting Johannesburg, my wife and I did the half-day tour to Pretoria. Nicholas was our driver and guide, and he was friendly and informative and did an excellent job unpacking the region's complex history for us. We had adequate time to visit the gardens in front of the Union Houses, do a self-guided tour of the Paul Kruger House, and he led us on a tour of the Voortrekker Monument, explaining the history as it was represented in the layout of the monument and the contents of its museum (and we had time to enjoy the view of the city and surrounding region from there). The drive from Johannesburg wasn't long (about 45 minutes), so it was easy to fit this tour into our brief stay there. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Nicholas, and would recommend this for someone wanting a brief visit to one of the three capital cities of South Africa (in addition to Cape Town and Bloemfontein), as well as understanding the role of the Afrikaner minority in the country's history.

A friendly and smiling Carson picked us up at our hotel. We were greeted with an overview of our tour and a bottle of water. Our tour happened to fall on a holiday, so there were no traffic issues or crowds to deal with. This allowed Carson to really explain the sights and history without pressure.
