We gaan naar de Mount Victoria Lookout om spectaculaire uitzichten over de stad Wellington te zien door Courtenay Place op te rijden, langs het Embassy Picture Theatre waar twee wereldpremières werden gehouden; De laatste LOTR-aflevering The Return of the King (2003) en de eerste Hobbit-film An Unexpected Journey (2012). Daarna gaat het naar Hobbiton Woods, waar het filmen van zijn epische trilogie begon. Thuisbasis van de Shortcut to Mushrooms-scène; Sam & Frodo's tweede ontbijt; de locatie waar de Hobbits zich verstopten voor de Black Rider ("Ga van de weg af!"); de Race to the Buckleberry Ferry-scène; en het Dunharrow-kampement van koning Théoden. Nu gaan we naar de Weta Workshop in Miramar. voor een exclusieve rondleiding achter de schermen waar je ziet hoe rekwisieten en wapens worden gemaakt en misschien ontmoet je misschien kunstenaars aan het werk. In de Weta-grot zie en maak foto's met Gollum, Lurtz de Uruk-hai, Bilbo's drie trollen. De tour eindigt met een rit rond de baaien terug naar de stad

We had a change of plans on our cruise, and we got in a day earlier than expected, so we were keen to book something to do. We decided to book the half day LOTR experience because that was all that was left, but it was excellent. We got to go to the Weta workshop, which was just out of this world, even my Mum who is 85 and NOT a LOTR fan had a great day. The commentary from Richard was great, and the places he took us too to show us the sites were fantastic, and easily recognizable. We were lucky enough as our group was the only people on the tour to be able to extend it to the full day tour, which made our day even better. Great work Richard.

This day was absolutely fantastic..we had a great day. Stan is a really good guide with heaps of knowledge about the area. He went out of his way to make our day extremely enjoyable. Weta production studio was very interesting

The tour included a trip to the WETA Studios, which was very informative and lots of fun and then went and visited some of the filming sites for Lord of the rings.

Our tour guide/driver Josef was very nice and knowledgeable. My wife was not feeling well and had to be back to the cruise ship upon arriving at the movie studio. He was very kind to take her back to the ship while I was touring the studio. It was too bad that she was not with me to take photos each other with materials displayed at the studio. After visiting the studio, Josef took me and two other guests to the forest where several scenes in the movie Lord of the Rings (LOTR) were taken. Josef provided good explanation with humor how they were taken. He had a slow pace for me (79 years old) to handle steep hill.

Nice tour through the Hollywood of Wellington. Visiting the Wētā prop factory is very informative and educational. Visit to Victoria park and visit the exact places where filming is very nice. Joseph showed the “stills” from the film and then showed the place. That too is impressive and very nice to see. Joseph knew a lot about it. Tip: watch the first Lord of the Rings movie first, then you'll have a lot more feeling about it.

NIce … really nice. Josef was great, very knowledgeable. And the first stop, the park, certainly got you in the right frame of mind for WETA. That by itself made the trip worth it. When you add up the smaller group, Josef and the workshop tour, you get value.

My wife and I had an amazing day from start to finish.The tour operator kept us updated leading up to the tour, meeting us on time as per their instructions. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of local culture and had great information to share regarding everything to do with the “Hobbit”. The studio tour was full of great props from the film giving you a behind the scenes in the making of the films.Plenty of laughs and a chance to snap some pictures towards the end. The tour was finished off with a short drive to one of the many filming locations,giving us a chance to take more photos getting a real feel for how the films were made. Highly recommended
