Tijdens deze tour verken je de belangrijkste plaatsen, pleinen en gebouwen die nog steeds de symbolen vertegenwoordigen van de sterke Habsburgse overheersing van dit gebied. Als welvarende zeehaven in het Middellandse Zeegebied werd Triëst inderdaad de vierde grootste stad van het Oostenrijks-Hongaarse rijk (na Wenen, Boedapest en Praag). De wandeltocht start vanuit de cruisehaven van Triëst, vanwaar je je wandeling begint naar het prachtige Piazza Unità d'Italia ("plein van de Italiaanse eenwording"), met zijn adembenemende uitzicht op de zee en zijn oude paleizen. Je bezoekt dan Borgo Teresiano en spot Piazza della Borsa en het theater gewijd aan de wereldwijd beroemde Giuseppe Verdi. Loop door het pittoreske Canal Grande en vervolg uw bezoek aan de Tergesteo totdat u het elegante Palazzo Gopcevich en Palazzo Scaramagnà bereikt. Ga Piazza Ponterosso binnen, het hart van de oude Borgo Teresiano, en loop door de Via San Nicolò.

This highlight helps to get familiar with walking in Trieste. Trieste is a walkable city but taking this tour helps to get familiar with the many narrow streets.

My late mother was born in Vienna, so I am interested in all history pertaining to the Hapsburg Empire, which is why I chose this tour. I was not disappointed. Esther was a wonderful guide. I had just come off of an escorted group tour. By coincidence, Esther was also the guide for a walking tour of Jewish sites of interest in Trieste that I had with my group tour three days earlier. The two walking tours complimented each other nicely.

Can I give more than 5 stars? After oversleeping and missing our pickup time, this gentleman contacted me to see if I wanted to just go later than the original plan. That worked out perfectly because we were in the process of walking to the pickup point to see if we could see a group that we could join up with. I found out we had booked a private tour, so he modified the schedule to see whatever we wanted within the time we had left. We only had a short time in Trieste to explore what the area has to offer. I'm very glad we booked this tour with Faberest and would highly recommend them.
